Chamber, EDC to Host Candidate Forum October 9
As ballots arrive in mailboxes, the business community is convening a candidate forum for contested local races directly responsible for shaping policy. The event takes place at 6:00p on Thursday, October 9 at Olympic Middle School and will also be streamed live on Mason WebTV, powered by HCC.
Candidates in the following races (listed in ballot order) have been invited to participate: Shelton City Council Position 3 (Kenneth Mobley & Sharon Schirman), City Council Position 4 (Holly Cahoon & Eric Onisko), City Council Position 6 (Shaena Garberich & Lyndsey Sapp), and City Council Position 7 (Miguel Gutierrez & Daniel Velasco).
The forum provides candidates an opportunity to present their viewpoints, respond to questions, and engage directly with their opponents. This community forum is presented by the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Economic Development Council of Mason County and local media.
The Shelton-Mason and the Economic Development Council of Mason County collectively serve as the voice of the business community and we make it a point to be at the heart of important issues like workforce development, quality of life, and civic engagement. That said, we are not political action committees and do not endorse candidates; we are independent organizations led by the private sector.
The Chamber and EDC provide nonpartisan information and host community education and outreach opportunities because we believe people have a right to know what candidates for public office believe about issues that affect our community. It is our goal to give every citizen the ability to learn more about policy making candidates and encourage you to get out and vote.
