Comments From the Chair

As I look around and see the trees beginning to lose their leaves, it’s hard to believe that fall is already here. With the change of seasons comes a full calendar of exciting opportunities to connect, celebrate, and support our community.

Mason Health is once again stepping up as a community partner, offering a Back-to-School Vaccine Clinic and a Free Mammogram Day for uninsured or under-insured women this September. Later in October, they’ll also host a Trunk-or-Treat at the hospital, complete with free flu vaccines.

October also brings the much-anticipated OysterFest, presented by Shelton Skookum Rotary. The weekend kicks off with OysterFunk on Friday night, hosted by Shelton Rotary, and continues with food, music, and festivities that highlight the very best of Mason County. OysterFest is more than just fun—it generates thousands of dollars each year for nonprofits while drawing visitors who stay in local hotels, enjoy our restaurants, and shop our businesses.

To close out the month, families can look forward to the downtown Spooktacular Trick-or-Treating event, presented by the Shelton Downtown Merchants in partnership with the Chamber. This annual favorite draws hundreds of families to Railroad Avenue, creating lasting memories while boosting foot traffic and sales for downtown shops and restaurants.

Events like these are a reminder that celebrations and community spirit also help drive our economy. They keep dollars circulating locally, bring in visitors who return again and again, and strengthen the small businesses that make Mason County unique.

The Chamber is proud to amplify these opportunities and to invest in projects that make our community welcoming year-round. Through the Chamber Foundation, we provide the flower baskets in summer and the holiday décor that brighten our downtown each winter. Together, we are building a community where businesses thrive, families gather, and neighbors take pride in calling Mason County home.
