ssisted living residents recently attended Up, Up and Away, a Lifestyle Expo hosted by Shell Point. This uplifting event included displays and interactive exhibits of the numerous amenities and services at Shell Point, as well as more than 100plus resident-led volunteer and activity groups. Many residents remarked that they had no idea how many clubs there were at Shell Point – and several expressed interest in exploring a new hobby! The Shell Point assisted living team also attended to share resources and information about assisted living services. The assisted living dining team served several delicious, heart-healthy snacks. Residents raved about the gourmet selections, praising the nutritional recipes and overall presentation of the food.

he Shell Point Quilters Biennial Show took place on the first weekend of March, and was a delightful display of talent. The “Great Expectations” quilt show display included more than 120 quilts during the event held March 2 through March 4. Guests were treated to entertainment by Shell Point resident pianists and beautiful blossoms from the Shell Point Orchid House. This year, an anonymous donation from a generous Shell Point resident allowed the quilts to be masterfully displayed on twenty brand-new quilt display racks. During the show, a silent auction awarded the highest bidder one of many lovely quilt keepsakes. A Quilter’s Challenge was also on display for residents to vote for their favorite creative use of fabric. Pat Meredith (Sundial) was awarded first place for this challenge. “Our great expectations were exceeded this year by all of the amazing quilts and participants,” stated Debbie Melchi (Periwinkle), resident leader of the successful show. “We look forward to the next Quilt show in 2021!”

Transforming Your Inside By Linda Schmierer, Assistant Chaplain

F

or several years, my husband and I lived in an old condo building that was recently redesigned and remodeled. Remodeling was a way of updating and transforming the inside of the building to make it look newer and more appealing. Those who have experienced this know how laborious and upsetting it can be going from the old to the new! The same can be true when you let God renew and remodel the inside of your life. God has a plan for your life and every believer will go through a time of transformation. If you allow God to strip away the old habits and thoughts of your sin nature, He will replace them with His own truths and principles through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Sometimes we have to go through suffering to eventually make us beautiful on the inside. As the apostle Paul tells us in Romans 5:3-5, “…we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces patience; and patience, character. Character produces joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. Such hope never disappoints us, for God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Do you feel sometimes like you are experiencing upheaval and brokenness? If so, let God transform and remodel your life by the Holy Spirit. You will be filled with joy and amazementw at the outcome!
