Pursue Tomorrow

As a Christian learning community, we understand that Pursue Tomorrow goes beyond preparing students for the challenges of this world - it calls us to live with eternity in mind We encourage our young people to pursue a life marked by righteousness, faith, love, and integrity, anchored in the hope of heaven

As the Apostle Paul urges in 1 Timothy 6:11–12, “Pursue a righteous life a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy Run hard and fast in the faith Seize the eternal life, the life you were called to…” At Shellharbour Anglican College, we are shaping lives not just for the world they will lead tomorrow, but for the eternal future they are invited into through Christ

Learning

At Shellharbour Anglican College, we equip students for life, not just exams. We offer an authentic education that goes beyond the classroom. Our goal is to equip students with the skills they need to thrive in life: nurturing problem-solvers, change-makers and individuals who make their own mark on the world. This is where the adventure of learning starts.

Learning for Hope

We have a dynamic vision for the future to transform learning at the College.

Our unique Learning for Hope framework aims to deepen student learning so that students can serve the greater community, address global challenges and flourish in a complex world It’s about embedding our faith in Christ through learning

At Shellharbour Anglican College we equip students for life, not just exams Our bespoke Learning for Hope framework is about preparing students for a lifetime of growth and discovery so that they can Pursue Tomorrow.

Curious minds. Courageous hearts. Hope-filled hands. This is our learning ethos. Imagine an environment where your child is encouraged to explore, face challenges head-on and look towards the future with optimism That’s a reality that we ’ re committed to building for our students and we want you to be part of it. So, how are we going to do it?

The Learning for Hope framework is built around three core pillars: Being Connecting Thinking

These pillars form the foundation of the holistic learning journey at Shellharbour While knowledge building is critical to educating young minds, our program is not just focussed on academic growth It’s also about nurturing compassionate individuals adept at critical thinking. It’s these attributes that will allow our graduates to embrace challenge and make a difference in the world

Early Learning

Our Early Learning program is where our youngest curious minds can explore, discover and grow in an environment of inquiry and play-based learning.

The curriculum, though formal and drawing on the Macquarie University Initial Early Literacy Program, is designed to be fun. We believe that play-based learning is crucial for our youngest learners, growing social skills, vocabulary, and resilience Our daily program encourages a rich curiosity about the world and actively prepares students for transition into the Junior School

The Prep learning environment has been purpose-built to meet the specific needs of our youngest learners Our outdoor learning space features a natural bush setting, vegetable gardens, mazes and trees for climbing. It’s an environment that promotes play, safe risktaking and exploration A place full of wonder, discovery and challenge On the inside, you’ll find light, bright colourful classrooms, flexible learning spaces and outstanding facilities. Your child’s work will proudly be on display. It’s a celebration of learning.

The College currently offers a two-day and three-day program. With a maximum class size of 28 students, we ensure that our Early Learners have individualised learning and careful guidance from our dedicated educators.

Junior School

For children in Kindergarten to Year 6, our Junior School is a great place to learn, play and grow. It’s about fostering connections, experiencing the adventure of learning, and establishing a strong foundation for future schooling.

Our classes are organised into Stages; a blend of students from two year levels with one class teacher Stage classes provide the opportunity for children to learn and socialise with classmates who may be older or younger than them, developing confidence, social skills, and leadership qualities There are also opportunities for children to work in a targeted group that suits their level of progress, particularly in literacy and numeracy

Our outstanding teachers are committed to taking the time to discover the unique needs of every child, and strategies are employed to enable differentiated learning. The curriculum follows the NESA Primary Curriculum, and includes specialist subjects: Music, PE and Italian

As students progress throughout their Junior years, the learning possibilities are unparalleled. Our range of co-curricular programs allow students to discover a broad array of interests, such as service learning and charity, sport, music and creative and performing arts

Senior School

For students in Years 7 to 12, our Senior School marks a time of significant growth into maturity. Students embark on a journey to becoming young men and women who will make their own mark on the world. Within a strong Christian context, this stage is a pivotal time for self-discovery and developing an understanding of the world around them.

For students transitioning from our Junior School, the integrated campus fosters a sense of familiarity, while our House System ensures that every student, new or existing, is known, understood, and cared for

Our teaching staff are committed to taking the time to discover what motivates your child; passions, curiosities and talents. As students navigate this challenging period of growth, they also explore their understanding of themselves and the world, within the framework of our values of Faith, Wisdom, Compassion and Respect

Believing in the potential of every student, our goal throughout their Secondary years is to empower them. Our dedicated educators work closely with each student, offering guidance and support in selecting courses tailored to their individual strengths and ambitions, paving the way for a successful future

As a registered and accredited institution under the NSW Board of Studies, Teaching, and Educational Standards (BOSTES), we deliver courses leading to the Higher School Certificate The transition from Year 7 to Year 12 unfolds with expanding choices aligned with the BOSTES curriculum – a mix of compulsory subjects and an increasing array of electives.

Our commitment to adaptability is reflected in the inclusion of practical and VET subjects, recognising the diverse needs of our student demographic

Faith

Our Mission

At Shellharbour Anglican College, our mission is simple:

“In Christ alone we are building a learning community, dedicated to excellence and equipping to

serve.”

We empower our students to live with purpose; to be bold and curious for their unique future

We are proud to be an inclusive Christian school, welcoming families from diverse faith backgrounds and those without any religious affiliation. Faith is our core value, and while we respect all beliefs, we provide opportunities for students to understand and appreciate the biblical Christianity that forms our foundation

Our Values

Our College culture is underpinned by four key values that are central to who we are, and guide all that we do:

Christian Education

Pastoral Care

At Shellharbour Anglican College, pastoral care isn't just a buzzword – it's an integral part of who we are. Just as we provide opportunities for deep learning, we extend deep care, understanding that happy and connected students experience greater personal and academic growth. The outcome is the cultivation of responsible, resilient, and compassionate young adults who strive for personal excellence and actively seek ways to serve others.

In the Junior School, students spend significant time with their classroom teachers, who take the time to understand each child's strengths and challenges. Each child is known, cared for, and can develop positive and lasting connections The Coordinator of Pastoral Care, supported by our team of College Counsellors, orchestrates House activities to foster House spirit and community. The House structure creates a strong sense of connection and belonging, allowing students the opportunity to form connections with a smaller group of peers throughout their school journey.

In the Senior School, our dedicated Pastoral Care team includes the Dean of Students, Tutor Teacher, Head of Senior School, Coordinator of Pastoral Care, and College Counsellors Each student is under the care of a dedicated Dean of Students for their year group cohort, ensuring a robust Pastoral Care structure. Students see their Tutor Teacher daily and receive dedicated Pastoral Care lessons three times a week, with the Tutor Teacher serving as the first point of contact for parents and guardians College Counsellors are readily available to support wellbeing needs. In this environment, your child will be truly known, understood, and supported throughout their educational journey

Co-Curricular

Our commitment to holistic development carries through to our extensive cocurricular opportunities, designed to enrich the learning experience of both our Junior and Senior School students. We believe in fostering an environment where students can explore, discover, and celebrate their God-given talents. Each activity not only enhances their academic experience, but also contributes significantly to personal growth.

At Shellharbour Anglican College, we offer a broad range of co-curricular opportunities to ensure your child’s learning adventure is well-rounded and exciting.

Creative and Performing Arts

Our Creative and Performing Arts program nurtures students’ love for music and the performing arts through both curricular and co-curricular opportunities Art and Drama Clubs provide space for diverse artistic expression and encourages creativity in performance The College’s Music Program offers a range of ensembles that help students develop and refine their musical skills. The biannual College Musical is a highlight for all, giving students across both Schools an opportunity to foster their creative skills

Service Learning becomes a catalyst for developing qualities of courage, compassion, and curiosity, instilling a sense of social responsibility Initiatives, including strengthening connections beyond our school, fundraising, and service immersion trips (Cambodia and Vietnam) seamlessly bridge classroom learning with real-world applications A highlight for many students and staff is the annual Gilgandra Service Trip, which sees students in Years 10 to 12 giving back to our local communities

For students in Years 9 to 12, the Duke of Edinburgh Award isn't just an accolade; it's a transformative journey for adventure and personal development. In this program, students engage in purposeful challenges, self-reflection, and community service, shaping them into resilient and confident leaders beyond the classroom.
