I encourage you to forge your path with confidence and purpose, whether it leads to higher education, a career, military service, or other adventures. Remember that success isn’t a single destination it’s found in how you grow, how you uplift others, and how boldly you chase your dreams
Pelham will always be your home We will continue to cheer you on and take pride in your accomplishments both big and small May you greet the future with open hearts, curious minds, and unshakable hope
Congratulations, Pelham High School Class of 2025! May your future be filled with opportunity, joy, and meaningful impact.
Warmest regards, A path apart.
Jacksonville State University celebrates your achievements and bright future ahead. Whether you're heading to college, starting a career, or chasing your dreams — we’re proud of you.
Wherever your journey leads, know that The Friendliest Campus in the South is cheering you on.
The time has finally arrived. A moment seniors from the class of 2025 have been counting down for since they walked through the doors for their final first day back in August.
Now, all can breathe a sigh of relief as this year’s graduates prepare to walk across the stage in celebration of years of hard work.
This moment is no small feat. It’s one that pulls together years of hard work, change and growth to culminate in having you ready to tackle the next chapter of life.
Our goal with this special graduation publication is to help highlight just how special of an accomplishment this is.
Throughout the publication, you will find a letter from the principal to the class of 2025, valedictorians available at the time of publication, each member of the senior class for all schools and special senior spotlights highlighting different leaders throughout our local schools.
As you sit through your graduation ceremony, I urge you to listen. Listen to your principal’s final message to you. Listen to your fellow classmates courageously speaking in front of each of you. Listen to the excitement surrounding each moment.
It will be your final high school memory.
Enjoy being around your friends, enjoy having family and educators there in support and enjoy the celebration.
This is a milestone that takes a team effort from the student, family, friends, teachers, counselors and so many others to reach.
That teamwork ultimately helped each graduate earn the good, get through the bad and handle the stressful balance of life and school.
What that has done is prepare you to tackle everything life throws at you. You aren’t done learning lessons and you will face bigger challenges, but you now have the foundation to become the best version of yourself.
To the class of 2025, don’t forget what the past four years of high school have taught you. You deserve this moment and now, it’s time for you to go be great.
Congratulations to each of you on this moment!

It feels like yesterday we were all bumbling down a river trying to figure out how to stay in our white water rafts. I think back on how amazing it was to spend the time we had together on your senior retreat and start our year off in peace, quiet, joy, fun, and worship. May I begin by saying you have made my first full year at Briarwood Christian School one for the memory books. A couple of my other favorite memories were how y’all rocked it at Briarwood’s Got Talent and watching the Georgia vs. Alabama football game with you at the Homecoming Dance. It has been a year full of great times spent together. When the community asks me about the

Senior Class of 2025, two things come to mind. First, I truly believe this is a class full of resilience, the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulty. There is a sense of toughness and “no quit attitude” about the class of 2025 that I admire and love. What an unbelievable quality and trait to have. Please do me a favor and never lose that about you. Secondly, and this goes along with the first, y’all show up for each other. Whether it is at a sporting event, arts event, or for a friend who is struggling, the class of 2025 shows up. My hope is our future Senior classes can also share these two qualities and continue in this excellence. Finally, I hope you have felt loved by the Briarwood community over the years. You have been prayed for by so many that love

you deeply. As you embark on your next adventure, continue to hold fast to the love of Christ, be resilient, and show up for each other. Our school verse this year has been Lamentations 3: 22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Class of 2025, may you finish strong and go with peace knowing that we serve a mighty God, who sent his one and only Son for you, a living sacrifice, so that we may have eternal life. Sitting at home during the ravaging pandemic that COVID-19 was, Bella Herring sat thinking what she could do to pass the time while she was isolated from her friends for the time being.
Having always had a passion for art and the creative side of things, Herring began to teach herself calligraphy. What started as a side gig though turned into an investment that pushed her further than she ever thought possible.
“It started out as a way to pass the time, but soon I was creating graphics and sending them to friends and family,” Herring said. “People started reaching out asking if they could buy products with my art on them, and that’s when I realized I had the chance to turn something I loved into something bigger and truly impact others.”

14 years old and heading into high school, the rapidly growing business she created pushed her to success in her creative classes and allowed her to attend external events for networking.
“Over the years, I’ve had the chance to attend market events, collaborate with brands and even design and manage my own website,” Herring said. “Seeing something I started on a whim as a hobby grow into a business that reflects my passions and beliefs. Looking back, it’s been such a blessing to share my creativity with others and I’m excited to keep growing in the future.”
Herring also credits two of her teachers at Briarwood Christian School for shaping her as a
student and businesswoman. She says Mrs. Hannah Pressley encouraged her to grow further as a writer and pursue opportunities to showcase her work, while Mr. Jim Selkirk made tough concepts interesting to her.
While excited for what her time in college will bring, Herring looks back on her time at Briarwood as being special, knowing that while everyone will go different directions, this senior class will always be family to her.
“What I’ll miss most about Briarwood is the relationships I’ve built here,” Herring said. “It’s a place where everyone knows your name and you’re not just another student—you’re part of a family. I’ll miss the sup-

Following graduation, Herring is attending Auburn University to study neuroscience, having sparked the interest in the field from personal experiences.
“Having migraines for most of my life and witnessing my grandmother’s near-fatal battle with bacterial meningitis initially sparked my interest in the brain and neurological conditions and I’m excited to pursue the field further,” Herring said.
Having seen those occurrences hit her close to home, she hopes to eventually be a neurologist to assist those with similar problems. She also hopes to combine that with continuing her business, leaning strongly on her faith to make a difference medically and entrepreneurially.

Calera High School senior Brady Williamson has spent his high school years busy, making sure to use his time wisely while also not being afraid to branch out.
“I was on the varsity baseball team, and I did a little bit of eSports,” Williamson said. “And then outside of school, I worked at the movie theater and I’ve recently been doing Jiu Jitsu.”
Now, at the verge of graduation, Williamson is able to see the amount of growth he’s experienced physically and mentally during the last four years as an Eagle.
“I’ve enjoyed seeing myself grow,” Williamson said. “I’ve definitely grown a lot. If I look at myself in ninth grade, it has been a big jump. I’ve become smarter and just a better version of myself.”
Williamson’s growth was made possible thanks to self-determination and the aid of educators and mentors along the way. Amongst those that have impact him on his journey, one particular teacher stands out.

With his senior year at its close, Williamson has set his sights on higher education and will be attending the nursing program at University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall. Williamson says he plans on becoming a nurse ethicist.
As he waves goodbye to the Calera Eagles, Williamson says he has one last piece of advice for the incoming students following in his steps.
“Don’t let people distract you,” he said. “As long as you have a good start, then you can get into a rhythm and continue to get better.”
“I’ll miss the friendships I’ve made,” he said. “I know that a lot of my friends will be be going to different places, and I’m probably going to see only a handful of them here and there.”

Walking across the stage in the auditorium at Chelsea High School, Addison Foster received her white jacket and special pin at the school’s third annual White Jacket and CPCT Pinning Ceremony in January.
Slipping her arms into the coat signified one of the first big accomplishments in her road to becoming a professional in the medical industry, something she has had her sights set on for a while.
“From as far back as I can remember, I have always been drawn to a future in healthcare,” said Addison Foster. “It stems from my empathy for others and passio nto help those in distress. I also love researching and exploring the unknown… Joining (Health Occupations Students of America) has solidified my commitment to the inspiring field of medicine.”
Foster was heavily involved in HOSA as the Vice President
of Membership Experience, but her participation in extracurriculars did not stop there. An honors graduate if ChHS, Foster was an officer for Peer Helpers, a Student Organ Donation Advocate, Key Club member, Cancer Kids First member and a track and field athlete.
She believes her heavy involvement in high school has provided with beneficial opportunities in leadership, networking and public speaking, which have helped her develop confidence, determination and a sense of joy.
Foster credits many of her
teachers for developing her into who she is today, including coach Jason Harlow, coach Clifford Lee and Mrs. Andrea Maddox.
Being an athlete, Foster un-
derstands all the work that comes with trying to be successful in something. However, that applies to many aspects of life, which is what Lee taught her.
“Coach Lee embodies perseverance by turning challenges into opportunities,” Foster said. “As my head coach in track and field, he has consistently shown unwavering belief in me, which has often
exceeded my own. He inspires me to reach my full potential in everything I do.”
The helpfulness that Lee provided is something that Foster sees in all of Chelsea, which is what she will miss most about being a Hornet.
“I’m going to miss the wonderful community and the sense of dependability that Chelsea offers,” Foster said. “Even as the town continues to grow, the close-knit family feeling remains. The people here always show up for one another, and every little win is celebrated.”
Following graduation, Foster will take her dependability, leadership and determination to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University to study biology on the pre-med track, hoping to become a clinical laboratory scientist and use all that she learned in high school to guide her.

The time has finally come for you to commence your life’s journey. Some of you have been here since you were in pre-kindergarten, and I know that Cornerstone feels like home. Perhaps you are anxious about leaving this place

Having served as the captain of the Cornerstone Christian School football team during the 2024 season, Drake Dunning is no stranger to taking on the mantle of leadership.
Throughout his time with the Chargers, Dunning’s leadership capabilities on the field contributed to the team’s success—culminating in backto-back 8-8Man AISA State Championships in 2023 and 2024. Congratulations ECCS class of 2025,
We are so proud of the fine young women and men that you have become. We are confident that your time at ECCS has prepared you for the new challenges that you will face.
As you part ways to pursue different paths, we pray that you will be reminded of the words of Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” No matter where you go or what you choose to do, Christ will be with you, lead-
ing you, prospering you, strengthening you, and using you to build His kingdom. Be amazed at the great opportunities that He has for your life and rest in the assurance that “He will never leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8).
We are thankful for the legacy that you are leaving behind at ECCS. We pray that God directs your next steps for your good and His glory. We love you, ECCS class of 2025, and we will be praying for you in the days, weeks, and years ahead. Soli Deo Gloria.

Driving down the basketball court as time ticked down on the clock, Denton McDonald was playing for many things, but two stood out amongst the rest—the “Helena” on his chest and his dad.
For three out of his four years in high school, McDonald played for his father, Lucas McDonald, who is the head coach of the Helena boys varsity basketball team. While on the team, he got to experience some amazing pieces of history, including making the school’s first-ever trip to the Fi-

“Being a part of the basketball team at Helena High School was truly amazing,” McDonald said. “We had made history for our basketball program and I got to experience that with my dad. Most high school students will never get to say that and I am grateful for that.”
The person he became throughout high school was involved in much more off the basketball court, being a member of four honor societies, including the National Honor Society,

The teachers and students who pushed him every single day are what McDonald says he will miss most about being part of the Helena Huskies. He hopes the underclassmen will see that as they go through high school, as he thinks it will make their experience better.

It seems like just yesterday that your parents were dropping you off for your first day at Indian Springs. The nerves and anticipation of that day have been replaced with growing confidence and a sense of self. Although there have been long and tiring days along the way, in hindsight, we can all agree that the years have flown by. You will soon arrive on campus one last time as a student and leave as new Indian Springs alumni. Wear this badge proudly, for it is a great accomplishment. Your journey was hard but worthwhile. Never shy away from hard challenges throughout your life. You will be made better for trying.
Graduation is the culmination of your Indian Springs journey as a student, but it is just an inflection point in what I know will be an incredibly successful and meaningful life journey. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration at Indian Springs, congratulations to you on your remarkable personal accomplishments and collective achievements. More importantly, let
me share my gratitude for the contributions you have made to the Indian Springs community. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you grow over the years, sharing laughs with you, and seeing you flourish in our classrooms, on our stage, on our athletic fields, and in every other endeavor you have undertaken.
As you prepare to travel your unique path and the inevitable twists and turns of life, know that you are prepared to do so, that you are worthy of the challenges ahead, that you are more than capable, and that you are loved. We eagerly await to see all you will achieve in life beyond high school and will celebrate every significant milestone from afar. Your Indian Springs family will miss you dearly, so we hope you will come back to visit often.
With admiration and gratitude,
Scott G. Schamberger, Head of School, Indian Springs School
When reflecting on his time at Indian Springs School, Max Lizee’s mind goes to the opportunities he has excelled in during his years there.
“I’ve been involved in a lot of music, science and math at Springs,” Lizee said. “I think I’ve taken advantage of as much as Springs can offer in these areas.”
Lizee boiled down his experiences at Indian Springs to one word: wide-ranging, considering that he has accomplished so much across a variety of different fields. Despite his success, Lizee has said that he will miss the simple things once he graduates.
“I’ll really miss my friends, the beautiful campus and all the teachers who pushed me to become my best self,” Lizee said. “I’ll also miss fishing in the lake at Springs during my free periods.”
One unique class in particular stood out for Lizee during his years at Indian Springs.
“Indian Springs has a unique contemporary music class,” Lizee said. “If you’ve seen ‘School of Rock,’ then you basically know what it looks like. Each class forms a rock band out of whatever instruments we happen to play. I play jazz saxophone, which doesn’t seem like I would fit in too well, but playing my first solo on Kiss’s ‘I Was Made For Loving You’ has
to be one of my peak moments at Springs.”
Outside of his love for music, Lizee’s love for academia also defined his Indian Springs experience.
“I love studying math and science, but some of the best opportunities I’ve found at Indian Springs are Dr. Cooper’s seminar-based history and political science courses,” Lizee said. “Dr. Cooper has been teaching here for over 50 years, and he’s stayed for a reason. I’ve taken his courses on nationalism and on liberalism and conservatism, and they’ve transformed my understanding of the modern world.”
Lizee was involved in a plethora of extracurriculars, mainly focused on music. However, one extracurricular activity in particular stood out above the rest.
“My most impactful extracurricular was working on a science fair project to predict water contamination using machine learning methods,” Lizee said. “Based on my experiences with environmental advocacy and my awareness about water contamination issues
in Alabama, I wanted to create a system for water contamination information that functioned similarly to air quality monitoring on weather apps. After regional and state science fair wins, this project took me to the International Science and Engineering Fair. At ISEF, my project culminated in being named a finalist for the National Geographic Geography and Geospatial Sciences Award.”
Lizee’s focus on improving water quality throughout the state continues through Indian Springs’ Capstone Research program, where he interned with a local environmental nonprofit collecting water samples for E. coli testing.
“I’m currently researching the causes of drastic increases in stormwater volume to understand how to limit associated impacts,” Lizee said. “This project solidified my love for scientific research and taught me how to delve deeper into my interests.”
Along with Dr. Cooper, another teacher at Indian Springs left a positive impact on Lizee and has set him up for success.
“The computer science teacher at Springs, Mr. Belser, taught me more than just the programming skills needed for my science fair project,” Lizee said. “He taught me how to think about problem solving, project management and how to deal with the inevitable and frustrating setbacks that I encountered many times. He didn’t get to come with me to the ISEF, in Los Angeles, but I never would’ve made it there without him.”
After graduation, Lizee plans to attend Swarthmore College, where he plans to major in physics with the aim of obtaining a PhD and conducting scientific research in the physics field. Lizee concluded by giving advice to underclassmen at Indian Springs.
“Pursue as many opportunities at Springs as you possibly can, and dig deep into your major interests,” Lizee said. “I especially recommend taking advantage of Springs’ independent study program, where you take a one-on-one course with a teacher about any topic you’re interested in and also apply for the Abroms Scholarship to fund intellectually compelling summer programs. I took advantage of both opportunities, and they led me to my interest in physics and to participating in the science fair.”

When reflecting on her time at Montevallo High School, Kimberly Bush can’t help but reflect on the impressive milestones she attained during her time there. More specifically, Bush is proud of how she used her voice not only as a leader, but in the arts as well.
“Some of my favorite memories from my time at Montevallo High School include being picked as the ‘friendliest girl’ for my senior class Who’s Who to be featured in the yearbook and participating in UAB Honor Choir,” Bush said. “Being picked from my peers for this superlative has really shown me how inspiring I am towards younger students and how I’ve successfully represented Montevallo High School. Being a part of the Honor Choir at UAB not only helped me enlarge my passion for singing, but it also gave me the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet current UAB Honor Choir students.”
While Bush is proud of her accomplishments, she will definitely miss the community at MHS the most.

that I have made along the way, my teachers that helped guide and mentor me throughout all of my four years of high school and being on the Montevallo High School campus,” Bush said.
Bush acknowledged that high school isn’t easy, but the rewards that it provides both academically and holistically are there for the taking.
“Pushing through these four years without procrastinating really paid off in the long run,” Bush said. “High school can really transform you as a student for the better or for the worse. It all depends on how you make the most of your four years at Montevallo High School.”
During her time at MHS, Bush was a member of the National Honor Society, First Priority, Future Teachers of America, Heritage Panel, Choir and Arts/ Crafts I.
However, one particular experience outside of the classroom has been integral in shaping who

she is today. “I am still to this day an ongoing caregiver for my 70-year-old grandmother who currently has dementia and Alzheimer’s,” Bush said. “I help cook meals for her, handle her medication and help her out with completing the chores that needed to be done. I am so very grateful to have been given this opportunity to continue to care for her and make her life easier. God has been so good to us. Caring for her has shaped me into a person I never thought I could be before. I started to see the world differently, got involved in church more and learned how to build on my faith. This heartfelt experience has really improved my mental health and overall spiritual growth.”
Bush also made sure to mention two specific people at MHS who positively impacted her growth.
“Some of the teachers and staff members who made a big impact on me were Mrs. Pastor and Mrs. Walker,” Bush said. “I

want to truly thank Mrs. Pastor for giving me the opportunity to be chosen in the senior spotlight this year. She has seen exceptional academic excellence and overall good character from me and I wouldn’t have done this without her support. I would also like to thank the school counselor, Mrs. Walker, for always providing me with valuable resources and answering questions I wasn’t so sure of.”
Bush’s family has been integral in her journey, with both of her parents being hearing-impaired.
“Growing up in a hearing-impaired environment has shaped me into a unique individual who can navigate two distinct worlds: the deaf community and the hearing world,” Bush said. “I’ve come to realize that there are not that many individuals out there that have been given this special gift to bridge the gap between deaf and hearing individuals.”
After graduation, Bush plans to attend Gadsden State Community College. She also plans to work towards transferring to Troy University and seeks to be involved in its Interpreter Training Program.

As the school year draws to a close and you prepare to take the next step in your journey, I want to take a moment to reflect on your time here at Montevallo High School and express how proud I am of all that you’ve accomplished.
This year, and all the years leading up to it, have not been easy. You have faced challenges, both personal and academic, that have tested your resilience and character. Yet, here you are-about to walk across the stage, ready to embrace the future. The class of 2025 has shown incredible perseverance, adaptability, and commitment, and for that, I commend each of you.
As you look back on your high school experience, remember that it wasn’t just about the grades, the awards, or the accolades-it was about the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the growth you experienced along the way. It is these moments that will serve you best as you embark on the next chapter of your life, whether that’s heading to college, starting a career, or exploring other exciting opportunities. Life after high school may seem uncertain, but know that you are equipped with everything you need to succeed. The skills you’ve developed here-critical thinking, time management, collaboration, and the ability to adapt-are invalu-
able and will guide you wherever you go.
However, success isn’t just defined by what you achieve; it is also about who you become in the process. Stay curious, be kind, and always stay true to yourself. Embrace new experiences, and when you encounter obstacles, face them with the same determination that got you to this point. Remember that success is not a straight path—there will be detours, setbacks, and moments of doubt— but these are the very things that will shape you into the person you are meant to be.
As you graduate, know that this is not an end, but rather the beginning of something even greater. You are ready to leave your mark on the world, and I have no doubt that you will continue to make us proud. Your achievements here at Montevallo High School have been remarkable, and I can’t wait to see where your unique talents, hard work, and vision will take you in the future.
On behalf of the entire staff, I wish you nothing but success and happiness. Congratulations on your graduation, and may your future be bright and full of promise.

It is a joy to be surrounded by students who are not only high achievers in the classroom, but on the stage, and in the field of play, as well. You make coming to work every day a pleasure and inspire me to be a better person.
As you prepare to embark on the next chapter of your lives, whether it be pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, or exploring other paths, remember the lessons you’ve learned and the values you hold dear. Battling through family difficulties, the road has not always been easy for Carson Grubbs, who had to battle through trials and tribulations to get to this point in his education.
Through his time at Oak Mountain High School, Grubbs worked to make the most of his passion for theatre and his involvement in rigorous coursework. Working tirelessly between those two aspects of high school helped him develop close relationships, ones he’ll miss after he turns his tassel.
“I think what I’ll miss most is the comfort,” Grubbs said. “The comfort of knowing I could come to school, excel in my classes and then head to theatre rehearsal and spend time with the friends I love being silly with. Oak Mountain is a place where I could grow, where I felt safe to challenge myself and still come back to something familiar.”
Not only was Grubbs involved in the school’s theatre program, but he also heavily participated on the math team for all four years. Those two organizations taught him new things about his friends that he never would have known otherwise.

He also stated his compassion for Ms. Amanda Bittinger, who he says is his biggest inspiration as he prepares for his college journey and a person whose voice he will carry with him every step of the way.
Closing one door and opening the next into the unknown, Grubbs plans to use his academic intelligence at Cornell University, studying chemical engineering. While he will travel across the country for college, he believes leaving his comfort zone will be worth it.
He hopes to use his studies in order to manufacture drugs that will aid in bad addictions, while also keeping the possibility open of doing something with acting.

As you approach your final days at Pelham High School, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve had and encourage you to keep your eyes focused on “The Big Picture”.
Life, much like your time here at PHS, is made up of snapshots, moments of joy, challenge, success, and even setbacks. It’s easy to get caught up in the small frustrations, the unexpected detours, and the obstacles that may arise. But as you look back on your time here, remember not to let these fleeting moments cloud your vision of the bigger journey that lies ahead.
Challenges and setbacks are but single frames in the larger narrative of your life. My hope is that you have learned, single frames do not define you! Rather, they teach you, shape you, and give you the resilience to keep moving forward. Many of you have spent the last four years embracing each lesson and realizing that every step, every trial, and every triumph has helped you grow into a young adult who is prepared for the future beyond the walls of this high school.
At the same time, don’t forget to enjoy the journey. The moments you’ve shared with friends, the relationships you’ve built, and the memories you’ve created are just as valuable as the goals
you have set for yourself. Take time to appreciate these experiences, for they complete your story as a Pelham Panther.
As you prepare to step into the next chapter, remember that each day you’ve spent at PHS has added to your story. The legacy you leave behind will be felt by the students who follow in your footsteps, and the impact you’ve made here will resonate for years to come. You have set the bar high for those who will walk these halls after you.
Know that you will be deeply missed by all of us at PHS. Your accomplishments, your spirit, and your leadership have inspired and uplifted us all. As I reflect on your time here, I am filled with pride for all that you have achieved and the incredible potential you carry with you into the future.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey. We look forward to watching you continue to inspire, empower, and achieve in all that lies ahead. I have no doubt that the best is yet to come for each and every one of you.
As always, Once a Panther, Always a Panther!
S. Sabrina Tutchtone,
Principal, Pelham High School
Edwin Hernandez, a Pelham High School senior, remains humble despite receiving outstanding honors.
Along with being PHS’s valedictorian, Hernandez is also a recipient of the QuestBridge Match Scholarship, a scholarship matching students from low-income backgrounds with full four-year scholarships to colleges across the country.
Hernandez was selected from more than 25,500 applications nationwide, and was matched with Stanford University, where he is aspiring to double major in chemical engineering and business at Stanford. Hernandez described what these achievements mean to him personally, specifically being honored as valedictorian.
“This achievement signifies the many blessings I was given in life,” Hernandez said. “I was given many opportunities and

chances to succeed, even when I possessed so little. In short, it’s an amazing achievement I am grateful to have.”
While Hernandez is proud of the work he’s accomplished in the classroom, he is perhaps most fond of the friendships forged outside of it.
“Some of my favorite memories from Pelham High School are the various times my friends and I were able to hang out for various extracurriculars and clubs,” Hernandez said. “The after-school activities strengthen relationships. I’m going to

miss the supportive and cheerful community of Pelham. So many people do things out of the goodness of their hearts, and so many people are easy to talk to.”
Hernandez didn’t have one singular motivation for his academic and extracurricular success, instead citing a plethora of influences and experiences in his life that led him to this point.
“No one thing motivated me, but a set of circumstances,” Hernandez said. “Throughout my upbringing and time in Pelham High School, I was exposed to a lot of challenges that made me

think about what I thought. I began to lose faith as things around me failed me. I felt lost. I was in a purgatory, but I was hungry for hope. I searched and searched until I was called to faith. A belief that I could make a difference to my family, community and the world became my purpose, and became the difference. I reasoned that I could change the most lives if I were my best self, so I pursued academics in hopes of becoming better at changing lives.”
While being his best self came with trials and tribulations, Hernandez is thankful for the legacy he leaves behind at PHS, and left underclassmen with advice as he moves on to his next chapter.
“Have faith,” Hernandez said. “Life can be hell, or even worse, but knowing that you can do it gives you the strength to not be knocked down, because after all, if it can be done, all you need to do is do it.”

As Shelby County High School senior Eli Holliman walks off the stage in May, he’ll carry with him a wealth of memories that he’ll never forget.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to see people every day and making friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime,” Holliman said. “Plenty of good memories.”
A particular standout memory were all the times his beloved pet dog Scroggy join him and his friends at SCHS for all their activities.
“My dog would come to school all the time and he’d hang out at my car, see me at lunch and he’d even come practice football with us,” Holliman said.
During his time as a Wildcat, Holliman made a name for himself on the football—forging friendships and solidifying a legacy as a player. Holliman credits his teachers and coach-

es for shaping him as a student and gave special credit to coach Cory Hamrick and teacher Dustin Cleckler.
“Coach Hamrick has always been a super nice guy to me and someone that I felt I could go to for advice,” Holliman said. “Mr. Cleckler, he’s my AgriScience teacher, he’s got me jobs over the summer and he’s just a great guy. I’m so thankful for them.”

Holliman says football stands among the things he’ll miss most about his time at SCHS.
“The thing I’ll probably miss the most is football and just being able to hang out with all my friends,” Holliman said. “My junior year, I was on All-County and was an All-State player. I had 86 tackles and three pick sixes. So, that was a very special season and it got me a good bit

The right path is rarely the easy path, and our teachers and staff at SCHS have committed themselves to equipping you with the wisdom and fortitude to pursue what is best even when it is hard. of recognition from colleges.”
That recognition has led to Holliman getting the opportunity to attend Erskine College on a scholarship where he plans to continue playing football and will major in education. After college, He says he hopes to become a teacher and a football coach—bringing things full circle.
“Being a coach is something special because you’re spending more time with the kids than they are with their family,” Holliman said. “As a coach, you need to be a good leader and that’s what a lot of kids need, a good role model. So, hopefully I can play that role one day.”
As he bids farewell to this time with the Wildcats, Holliman has one last piece of advice for any incoming freshman.
“Don’t be shy, get involved and make friends,” he said.

Sasha Popova has made herself a key part of Spain Park High School over the course of her high school career. However, she was not always a part of the Hoover community.
Popova is a native of Ukraine and came over to the United States when she was in fourth grade. She had to adjust to starting elementary school in Texas, which has a much more different teaching style than she had in eastern Europe.
However, that adjustment was nothing like moving across state lines to start her high school career. Looking back, she is glad to have many strong friendships and the formative experiences they brought.
“It was kind of hard for me to make friends at first, but now I’m more than grateful for my
parents allowing me to move with them to Alabama because that has opened so many new things for me and new friendships and opportunities for me to grow in and to finally find out who I am,” Popova said.
A big way that Popova adjusted was by getting involved with many different clubs. She joined the art club and eventually received a scholarship from the Bluff Park Art Alliance for her talents.
She also joined the tennis team and is an ambassador for SPHS, helping give tours to new students like she was
by showing them about life at Spain Park. Popova also serves as the SGA chaplain and leads the school in the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence every morning.
Popova also adjusted quickly in the classroom and is grateful to the many teachers who helped her along her journey. She is particularly grateful to Mrs. Wallace and Mr. Parker for the very different ways that they helped her develop as a person.
Now, Popova prepares to
go to Auburn University as a pre-architecture student, but she is grateful for her four years at Spain Park.
Looking back on her journey, she hopes that others can follow in her footsteps by putting themselves out there to try new experiences and make new friends.
“Always say yes to trying new things,” Popova said. “All the memories and all the fun times that I look back and think about during my high school career have always been hanging out with my friends, going to random school events like the theater plays or choir shows and just always go to all the football games and just being really involved in school so you can build so many memories and so many new friendships.”

Sitting at the top of the Thompson High School class of 2025, the thing Nina Lin will miss most are the people that surrounded her during her time as a Warrior.
“I’m going to miss my friends and classmates a lot since for the next four years, I’ll be moving out of state, so I won’t be able to see them as much,” Lin said. “The teachers that have helped me grow throughout my high school journey, I’ll also probably miss them a lot too.”
Lin shared how the presence of her fellow students and the experiences THS provides helped develop her as a person and led her to discover her future career.
“I’ve enjoyed making some of my best friends in high school
and being able to have a lot of different experiences that have really helped me grow as a person and helped me develop into who I want to be in the future,” Lin said.
After trying out the THS Rocket Club on a whim, Lin discovered a deep love for space and rocketry. She eventually became the team captain of the club and founded the Girls Rocketry Team within the Rocket Club to encourage female involvement in the field.
“I tried it out in my freshman year because it sounded interesting, and I just fell in love with it,” Lin said. “I have been real-
ly involved in trying to share my love for rocketry with other students and younger children.”
During her time as a Warrior, Lin also participat -
ed in Technology Student Association as its president and has been active member of the THS Key Club and Beta Club. She also took on a busy course schedule while participating in dual enrollment with Jefferson State Community College.
Along the way, there was one member of the THS faculty that cheered Lin on as she complet-
ed her high school education.
“Mr. Paul Furman, my physical teacher,” Lin said. “He was the one that started the Rocketry Club and I’ve been with him for all four years of high school and he’s been an active supporter and really helped me develop my interest in physics and science.”
After she steps down from the podium with her diploma in hand, Lin plans to attend Harvard College and study computer science or mechanical engineering. She hopes to one day find a career focused around technology.
As she waves goodbye to her days as a Warrior, she has one last piece of advice for her fellow students.
“Don’t be afraid to dream big,” she said.

Dear class of 2025,
First, congratulations to each and every one of you! Reaching this milestone is no small feat—it takes dedication and perseverance. For the past 12 years, you’ve poured your heart and hard work into getting to this point, and I couldn’t be prouder of all that you’ve accomplished. Your families, teachers, staff, and administrators are thrilled to celebrate this moment with you.
Before you head off, I want to ask you to remember where you come from. In doing so, remember that our challenge to you is to strive to make the world around you a better place. Whether it’s in a new classroom, the workforce, the military, or with your family and friends, always show the love and compassion you wish to receive.
Your high school years will be something you carry with you for the rest of your life. The experiences you’ve had here at Vincent Middle High School will help shape who you become as you step into your next journey, whether that’s college, work, or something else. Take both the good and the bad with you—they will make you stronger, more resilient, and more capable. Go out and show the world what it truly means to be a Vincent Yellow Jacket: serve your community, stand tall with pride, accept responsibility with grace, treat others with respect, and make a difference wherever you go. And always remember, Jackets Swarm Together. I am so incredibly proud to have been part of your journey, and I wish you all the very best as you move forward.

Connor Buchanan has done just about everything there is to do at Vincent Middle High School, from senior class president and All-State choir to art, quiz bowl, math team and theater.
Now, as he walks across the field at Vincent’s football stadium, he prepares to do something nobody from VMHS has ever done–attend Harvard University.
Buchanan has long desired to see all that the world has to offer and attend one of its most prestigious institutions, but after a rejection from Duke, he shifted to Cornell and Harvard and eventually decided to go to Boston.
“I’ve always kind of wanted to go out into the world and gain new experiences and kind of explore it,” Buchanan said.
Buchanan will study pre-law at Harvard with the hopes of staying at the university for law school and becoming an attor-

Buchanan hopes his unique path can be an inspiration to future generations that their dreams aren’t limited by where they grow up. He firmly believes that with hard work and an opportunistic mindset that people from Vincent can achieve anything.
He will miss the opportunities provided by his extracurriculars to volunteer and make a difference in the community, but he said the two main things he will long for are his friends and teachers.

As Carden Ritch comes to the end of her journey at Westminster, she is grateful for the many amazing experiences she has had in her time in upper school.
In particular, Ritch valued the closeness that being at a small school like Westminster afforded her. She believes that tight-knit nature of her smaller senior class helped them grow closer with each other and with the teachers.
“I think I will probably miss the close connection I had with my grade and my teachers because my grade ended up being pretty small by the end of the year and we just had a very good rapport with
the administration and the faculty,” Ritch said.
Another part of Westminster that Ritch loved was getting to participate in many different extracurriculars. She played volleyball for the Knights and was involved in theater, art club and cultures club. In addition, she was selected as a Westminster Ambassador, National Honor Society and a member of house leadership.
One of the aspects of Westminster that she believes makes it special is the unique ways that they engage with their course material to diversify the learning experience.
“Westminster, I think it’s
Congratulations on your graduation! We began this year by thinking about the tension you would experience as a senior: that you would wrestle with having divided attention between this year and the years to come. Many of you have reflected on the understandable challenge of thinking so much about the future that you struggle to live fully in the present. While this year of your life is certainly unique, this tension – of moving your attention back and forth between the present and the future – is one that you will navigate often in the years to come.
This transition to your next steps after high school also provides an opportunity to reflect on your experiences and achievements that led you to where you are. The achievements of the thirty-four of you include state titles in athletics, recognition as scholar-athletes, success in art, robotics, and quiz bowl competitions, academic awards, and numerous college scholarships. You have written and presented a thesis to an audience of your peers and faculty. You have served and led well on athletic teams, through the House system, and other clubs and organizations.
As we celebrate these achievements, we also consider that many of the best learning opportunities have come not only
the different ways that we engage with learning information so it’s not just memorizing facts and dates,” Ritch said. “We really get to learn through different ways and different mediums and also learn how to learn.”
Ritch had a unique Westminster journey as she was taught by her father, longtime English teacher Charlie Ritch, for two years of literature. She said that he was one of two teachers along with Bible teacher David Conrad who were key inspirations for her journey.
Studying under her father was an eye-opening experience for Ritch as she got to
see her dad in a whole new light and gain a deeper understanding for his work as a teacher.
“I really enjoyed it because it was kind of being able to see a new side of my dad, but also see practically the things that are his reasoning behind how he saw the world work and his morals and just the way that he thought,” Ritch said.
Ritch will have plenty of opportunities to use the lessons she learned in and out of the classroom when she attends the University of Alabama to study social work, embarking on a new journey in Tuscaloosa with her Westminster family still in her heart.
through experiences of external success but also through struggle. Whether considering your achievements or your struggles, we are not simply celebrating your efforts; we are also celebrating God’s work in and through you.
On the one hand, it is right for you to have a sense of pride in your accomplishments so far! On the other hand, there will be an ever-present enticement to use your gifts for self-promotion.
An abundant life is not based on accomplishments or externally-recognized success. Rather, the path to life comes from taking refuge in God and seeing His goodness. Said another way, we do not find refuge in our work, but rather in the work of Christ, and our identity is rooted in that truth.
Your call is to be a steward of your gifts, both for the glory of God and the good of others. My hope and prayer is that you will rest in God being at work in all things and strive for growth with that truth in mind. I am proud of your work so far, and I look forward with great anticipation to seeing how you will use your lives to love God and your neighbors.
In Christ,
Chris Knowles
