KYTA (Karma Yatri Travel and Art) is an experimental residency program currently based in the Himalayan village of Kalga. The focus of the residency is to research and explore the relationship between travel, living, culture, art and community. The artistic focus is on the process and the confluence of various artistic practices and thought streams across experimental human endeavour. Every year, KYTA hosts a group of experimental artists from India and the world over. Alongside, we are building associations and partnerships with artists, projects and institutions globally to expand the scope of cultural exchange with India.
The 2017 edition of KYTA was a trilateral collaboration with 17 artists from India, Switzerland and South Korea. Produced by Karma Yatri and partnered by Pro Helvetia - Swiss Arts Council and Modi Digital, this edition also featured associations with Artlabban (Seoul), Ausstellungsraum Klingental, Alps Art Academy and Atelier Mondial.
