Hello & Thank You! Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Angela when she retired at the end of January. After working with her for more than 20 years’, it has seemed strange not to see her smiling face come sailing through the door but we won’t be losing touch as she only lives around the corner. We’ve been lucky to find an equally lovely lady to take her place and many of you may have already spoken to Jo, whose main job will be handling our day tour bookings, working in conjunction with Deborah.

Can we also say a BIG thank you to a member of our engineering team, Denis Wolfe, who works behind the scenes ensuring the safe running of our coaches. Denis clocked up 10 years service at the end of February.

This rather special day starts in historic Colchester. Our guide will show you the Norman castle built on the site of a Roman temple and then a contemporary gallery where modern art meets carefully preserved Roman mosaics – and where the building itself is a work of art in its own right! To protect the rich archaeology beneath, it floats on a base without traditional foundations – and every inch of the golden shell covering the building was applied by hand!

Next, enjoy a delicious lunch of prawn cocktail, roast beef and profiteroles (vegetarian and gluten free options available on request). Then, our afternoon is devoted to the nature reserve of Fingringhoe Wick on the estuary of the River Colne, in search of the singing nightingales who return here year after year. A short walk will take you to some of the hides or you can enjoy the views across the salt marshes and the estuary from the visitor centre.

The small print – things you need to know Cancellations If you need to cancel your booking, you should telephone us as soon as possible. Cancellations will only be accepted during office hours and cancellation charges are determined from the time at which we receive written notification of the cancellation. You can either return your ticket to us by post (or in person) or send an email to confirm the cancellation. We charge a fee to cover administration and other costs and cancellation charges are as follows: Up to 48 hours before departure…

20% of total paid Less than 48 hours before departure…

No refund In addition, no refund will be given for any prepaid meal, theatre ticket, admission charge, etc. which is included in the ticket price and not recoverable by us.

On most tours, if your cancellation is made more than four weeks before departure, you may be able to change your booking to another day tour on payment of a transfer fee of £1.50pp. You are also welcome to pass on your ticket to a friend at no extra charge but it’s a good idea to let us know that someone else will be travelling in your place.

Health & Safety If you wish to board the coach with items other than normal hand luggage or suitcases, please obtain our consent at the time of booking. We reserve the right to refuse permission to board if we consider a passenger has any items or equipment that will be detrimental to the health and safety of our staff and/or other customers. Our drivers are not allowed to take any action that may put at risk their health, safety, welfare or the legal requirements for a break in duty. Smoking is not permitted on board (including E-cigarettes).

Meeting Friends We always try to park in a convenient, central location, whenever possible, but sometimes arrangements may have to be amended on the day. May we suggest that you plan to meet at a well-known landmark or café and also exchange mobile phone numbers?

Mobile Phones If you need to use a mobile whilst on the coach, please keep your conversation as quiet and as brief as possible to avoid distracting your driver and to minimise disturbance to other passengers.

We reserve the right to withdraw any excursion due to lack of support or circumstances beyond our control.

Any such cancellation would usually be made no later than one week before departure and, in this instance, your fare would be refunded in full and this would be the limit of our liability.

Pets Assistance dogs are welcome on board our tours but other animals are not allowed.

Child Fares Usually apply from ages 3 to 16 inclusive, but may vary on some tours. Children under 3 can usually travel free if they do not require a seat on the coach.

Under 16’s must be escorted by an adult.

Special Care for Disabled Customers On each tour, we hold two front seats for the use of customers who have a Registered Disability or a Blue Badge (and their companion). However, some excursions may involve long journeys or long walks and some visitor attractions (especially theatres) may have steps and no lift. If you tell us about your disability before you book, we will do our best to check that a tour is suitable for you. Our coaches do not have lifts so you must be able to use the entrance steps. At your own risk, we are happy to carry a limited number of wheelchairs, walkers and scooters, although they cannot be secured in the luggage compartment nor can we be held responsible for any damage to them. Wheelchair and scooter users must be accompanied by someone who is able to take charge of the chair (or scooter) and, where appropriate, dismantle and reassemble it, disconnect any batteries and load it into the luggage area. No individual piece of equipment should weigh more than 15 kgs and Schedule 3 scooters are not permitted under any circumstances. Our drivers are happy to provide general assistance but cannot provide help that extends to the lifting and carrying of any passenger or their wheelchair or scooter, nor to act as carers.

Coach Seating Seat numbers are usually allocated in order of booking but we hold two front seats for customers who have a registered disability or hold a Blue Badge.

Coach Tickets Please hand your coach ticket to the driver when you board. Our driver will normally give admission tickets for shows, concerts, etc. to you during the journey.

Departure Times During the journey, our driver will announce departure times from each stop. Please make sure you note these details carefully. If you are late, we will have to leave without you, to avoid inconvenience to the other customers. If that should happen, we will not be liable for any costs you incur. If you have given us your mobile phone number we will try to contact you whenever possible but may we also suggest that you keep a note of our phone number (01778 342224) so

Senior Fares Apply to all customers aged 60 or over.

Your Health You may wish to consult your doctor, before undertaking a coach journey of more than 3 hours, if you have ever had DVT or pulmonary embolism; a family history of clotting conditions; an inherited tendency to clot; cancer, or treatment for cancer in the past; undergone major surgery in the last 3 months; had hip or knee replacement within the last 3 months; ever suffered from a stroke, heart or lung disease.

It is always our intention to operate an excursion in accordance with the published itinerary, but we reserve the right to cancel or amend any excursion, should circumstances make this necessary, either prior to or during an outing. We cannot accept liability for changes that are made necessary by events or actions by persons beyond our control.

All arrangements made for meals, visits, theatre, etc., and for the use of road vehicles, trains, or any other means of conveyance operated by persons or bodies other than ourselves, are made by us as agents for and on behalf of our passengers and on the express conditions that we will not be responsible for any loss, damage, injury, delays or inconvenience caused to or sustained by passengers other than by the negligence of the Firm and its employees who are under the direct control of the Firm. Any terms and conditions imposed by such other contractors through the Firm shall be binding on the passengers as if they had directly contracted such services. The allocation of theatre and event seats is at our discretion and maybe subject to change. We cannot guarantee specific locations and theatre castings always remain subject to change. No refunds can be given in the event of anyone not appearing.

All special offers are subject to the Firm’s rules and conditions that are currently in force and our day excursions are operated subject to our standard terms and conditions of carriage, a copy of which is available from our office. We also reserve the right to pass on any increases in costs that are outside our control, e.g. VAT, fuel prices, etc.

Complaints We very much hope you will enjoy your day tour with us but in the unlikely event that you have a complaint during a tour, please inform your driver in the first instance so that he/she may do his/her best to assist you. If you wish to make further representation on your return, please write to us within 21 days after the date of travel. We will not respond to any complaints received later than this time and we only respond to written complaints.

In Stamford, the landlord of the Danish Invader (in Empingham Road) has kindly given permission for our customers to use his car park in return for a small donation to his chosen charity. Please put your donation in an envelope, write your car registration number on the envelope and post it through the pub letterbox – and please be sure to park your car at the back of the pub. And feel free to pop in for refreshments whenever the pub is open either before or after your day out!

We’re sorry to advise you that we’ve had to temporarily remove our pick up point in Oundle due to the newly imposed weight restriction on the river bridge. We hope you might still be able to join us at Peterborough Extra Services.

We can also offer limited free parking facilities at our garage in Maxey, but please remember that you park at your own risk and you need to pre-book a space at the time you make your reservation.
