BEST MUSEUM JASMINE MORAN CHILDREN’S MUSEUM The Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, located in Seminole, and is known as a museum “where children play to learn and adults learn to play”. 42,000 square feet with an outdoor play area provide hours of education and entertainment for kids of all ages.

Many indoor exhibits revolve around careers and occupations.

Children can role play a variety of jobs using interactive play and sometimes, even dressing up in a particular career. Careers highlighted are in the fields of medicine, law, car maintenance, art, engineering, consumerism, paleontology and much more.

The SuperSONIC Express train carries visitors on a half-mile ride that circles a pond and gives a spectacular view of the 12,000 square foot Castle Maze, where visitors have the opportunity to master 4 different mazes. An observation deck on a second floor gives visitors a birds-eye view of the mazes below and the museum grounds.

Newly added is a two-story oil exhibit that takes a visitor from the ground up

to explore the world of drilling for oil complete with interactive stations to make the experience even more enjoyable. A slide provides an alternate route for little ones to maneuver in the exhibit.

Another new exhibit is a WaterWorks feature. Visitors can channel water using Duplos to change water direction; through interactive play children can fill a pail of water and lift it to 10 feet to release the water. This exhibit has many opportunities for visitors of all ages to enjoy with a variety of interactive play.

Visitors from each of the 50 states and 86 foreign countries can attest to the positive experiences gained from the Children’s Museum. Over 70,000 visitors have entered the museum doors leaving positive comments in the guest book.

Walker Funeral Service has remained a family business for over 70 years. Walker first opened in 1939 as Thorton Funeral Home. Later, it was purchased by the Roesch family, renamed Roesch Funeral Chapel, and in 1951 moved to 400 N. Broadway. The Roesch family operated the chapel until 1971, when it was purchased by the Walker family, and renamed Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. In the mid-90’s the Walkers realized they were out-growing their location. So, they began to make plans to build a new funeral home.

The Shawnee Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) would like to thank our community for voting us the Best of the Best fitness center. We have been serving this community since 1903 not only as a fitness center but as a non-profit, charitable, community based organiza-

tion. In 2018 we provided over $49,000 in financial assistance to our community, offered 9 free water safety classes, provided one week of childcare during the school closings, served over 4,200 meals to youth, and so much more. Our current offerings are swimming/water park, youth and adult sports, preschool, summer day camp, group exercise classes, hot tub, free weights, cardio equipment, weight machines, basketball gym, indoor track, child watch, and new for 2019 is our 24/7 access for the fitness center. At our YMCA we have no contracts or joining fees and we believe when you join the YMCA you are not only joining a gym but you are joining a community organization that serves our community in many different ways.
