MORRISON – Autopsy results were not available Thursday in the death of a woman who appears to have succumbed to hypothermia after being released from Whiteside County Jail on Monday morning. The body of Janet Sims, 65, of Rock

Falls, was found around 3 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area a few blocks north of Whiteside County Jail, roughly 30 hours after she was released from the facility, Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi said Wednesday. Foul play is not suspected, Wilhelmi said. Jamie Richards, 42, of Lyndon said Sims, his mother, suffered from bipolar and schizoaffective disorders, and had been in

and out of local hospitals and the jail off and on for the past 18 months, he said. She was released around 8 or 9 Monday morning – her 65th birthday – after serving 5 days of a 10-day sentence for contempt of court in a trespassing case. A snowstorm was moving through the area at the time.

STERLING – The city’s Liquor Control Commission will schedule a second meeting to look at possible violations by the Latin American Social Club. 3 Lighting the tree with candles in Oregon OREGON – The Oregon Candlelight Walk will feature the lighting of a Christmas tree with candles at 6 p.m. Saturday at Ogle County Historical Society’s Nash Museum, 111 N.
