DIXON – Attorneys will again head to court Tuesday for a hearing on whether a charge filed against a Dixon man accused of endangering his son’s life will stick. In 2011, Andrew C. Fassler was first charged with aggravated domestic battery. STERLING – To commemorate the 125-year anniversary of the Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA, a series of basketball games will be played Saturday at Musgrove Fieldhouse in Sterling. Scrimmages with players from the Newman, Rock Falls and Sterling high school teams will begin at 5 p.m. That will be followed by a throwback game, using the original 13 rules of peach basket basketball, at 6:30 p.m. Local celebrities in oldstyle uniforms will play in that game. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
DEER GROVE – Comedian Aaron Foster of Chicago will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Arnie’s Happy Spot, just off state Route 40 in Deer Grove. Admission costs $5. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Also, for $11 you can see the show and have a chicken dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the ballroom.
DIXON – Local band KATG will play from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 540, 1560 Franklin Grove Road. Admission is a new toy or monetary donation, all going to the Dixon Area Toys for Tots campaign. The program provides toys for children in need in Lee and Ogle counties.
