Emmy-nominated showrunners Kelly and Tammy Rundle, who operate Moline-based Fourth Wall Films, and producer Chris Burke, who wrote the screenplay, will bring it closer to life when the cameras roll Monday and Tuesday. “The Best That is in Me: Mr. John Deere’s Dream,” will engage viewers with historical reenactments, narrated by historians and writers.

Not only will the preview help to visualize the story, Kelly said, but it’s also his hope that the trailer drums up more buzz about the film; one of the biggest challenges has been fundraising. The time between John Deere’s birth and his breakthrough plow design largely has been forgotten, Kelly said. DEERE CONTINUED ON A4

STERLING – The Sterling Park District Board of Commissioners met for a public hearing Wednesday, but board members were the only ones in attendance. The hearing was required for the park district’s planned sale of $1.31 million in general obligation bonds. The amount of the sale is at the maximum allowable level – 0.525 percent of equalized assessed valuation – without triggering a referendum requirement. “The public hearing gives people a chance to ask the park district about how the money from the sale of the bonds will be used,” Parks Director Larry Schuldt said. It’s possible Sterling residents are so accustomed to the process, they don’t feel a need to attend the meeting. “The park district has sold general obligation bonds for capital improvements every year since at least 1989,” Schuldt said. The money will be used for general capital improvements, which includes maintenance, repairs, equipment, materials and supplies. BOND SALE CONTINUED ON A4
