SERVING DIXON AND THE SURROUNDING AREA SINCE 1851

DIXON | REAGAN LEGACY NORMAN WYMBS | 1923-2016 Towner Reed cleans the Ronald Reagan statue Thursday afternoon on the Dixon riverfront. Reed has a connection to the statue of the city’s most famous son; her father, Don Reed, designed it. The bronze, life-size work, titled “Begins the Trail,” features Reagan astride a palomino horse he once rode. It serves as the centerpiece of Heritage Crossing, an open-air plaza that overlooks the Rock River. The statue is undergoing cleaning and routine maintenance.
