DIXON | GOALS FOR 2014
Reagan statue, take 2 Project, bridge work likely won’t get done this year BY MATT MENCARINI mmencarini@saukvalley.com 800-798-4085, ext. 5529
DIXON – The city’s next Ronald Reagan statue will look a little different than the one unveiled in February. The statue, which will eventually be placed in Lowell Park, will still depict a young Reagan as a lifeguard running toward the water. But it has been rede-
signed, Mayor Jim Burke said. “We just didn’t feel that it expressed the way Reagan looked at the time he was a lifeguard,” the mayor said. Raising $200,000 for the statue was among the 18 goals Burke announced in January as worthy projects for the city this year. GOALS CONTINUED ON A5
Stay tuned Matt Mencarini will break down the 18 projects Mayor Burke hoped to see through in 2014 in his Dateline Dixon column Wednesday.

Fixing the rusty railing on the Galena Avenue bridge is one of 18 goals Mayor Jim Burke set for the city in 2014. The project likely won’t get done and could be bound for the 2015 budget.
