OGLE COUNTY | SPENDING IN THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
Board tightens grip on tow fund Ammendment narrowly passes; proposal then passed 22-1 BY VINDE WELLS vwells@shawmedia.com Shaw News Service
OREGON – The Ogle County Board was divided when it voted to diminish the sheriff’s control over how one fund in
his budget is spent. Before approving tighter controls on the county’s “administrative tow fund,” the board voted 12-11 vote Tuesday to remove wording that allowed the sheriff
to decide how the money is spent. The original proposal was then passed 22-1. Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn has come under fire in recent weeks over expenditures in the tow fund, which includ-
ed spending for new vehicle, flowers for Secretaries Day, a tent at the county fair, and $4,000 for management of the department’s Facebook page. GRIP CONTINUED ON A7
