Misconduct investigation stalled State says prosecutor’s request to investigate attorney was never received BY DAVID GIULIANI dgiuliani@saukvalley.com 800-798-4085, ext. 525
MOUNT CARROLL – In March 2010, the mother of a child pornography victim went to the Carroll County state’s attorney to report that the attorney’s
former assistant had kissed the victim during a social outing. Rather than take the matter to law enforcement, State’s Attorney Scott Brinkmeier advised the woman to contact the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, which deals
with attorney licensing issues. This is according to a letter that Brinkmeier wrote to the attorney general’s office on Dec. 21, 2011, in which he sought an investigation of Hogan. He released the letter this week at the request of Sauk Valley Media.
In a statement, the attorney general’s office said it believed it had never received the request from Brinkmeier. The facts of the case are not in dispute.
According to a recent entry on his blog, former state’s attorney assistant Hunter Hogan is now living in Egypt.

PROPHETSTOWN – The attorney general is looking into a complaint that state police are keeping under wraps records on a fight in late September outside a Prophetstown bar. In November, Eugene Pashon, 30, asked for records from state police about the fight, which took place Sept. 28 near Kuehl’s Pub, 213 Washington St. In a December interview, Pashon said five men approached him outside the bar and started beating him up. He said he remembered nothing after that because he got knocked out. Pashon was taken to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, then flown to a hospital in Peoria. He said he suffered brain injuries, racking up $196,000 in medical bills. On Nov. 12, state police received a Freedom of Information Act request from Pashon for documents related to the investigation. Two weeks later, the agency denied his request. DENIAL CONTINUED ON A5

are finished grand champions. According to Wikipedia, a dog earns a championship with wins at a specified number of conformation shows, where a judge evaluates a dog’s breed type and how closely it approaches the ideal represented in its breed’s standard. A dog that completes a championship (called a finished champion) may continue to be entered in shows to compete for group (winner of its group) or Best In Show honors. That’s what Sheldon is up to today. WESTMINSTER CONTINUED ON A4
