POST HOUSE

Patty and Donna’s Butterfly Garden is starting to bloom; dedication will be Friday, September 25, 2020 – please come and celebrate their lives.
“If you build it, he will come,” the famous phrase from the classic movie, “Field Of Dreams.” What a great summer movie! If you have never watched it, it is time. Now you are going to think I am stretching this a bit. However, I am going for it. I experienced something similar. No, Shoeless Joe Jackson did not walk out of a cornfield. Ha! That would have been cool. A few days prior, we had planted some beautiful flowers and a butterfly bush in front of the Post House Ballroom. The proceeds were donated in memory of our dear friend and co-worker, Patty Frey. Patty loved butterflies. We felt it would be appropriate to start a butterfly garden in her memory. A recent Friday was a perfect summer day. There was a blue sky, fluffy white clouds and warm sun shining down. As I was watering the new plants, the most beautiful monarch butterfly landed on the flower of the bush. I was amazed that it did not take long at all. How did that butterfly find that bush so quickly? I took it as a sign; Patty was famous for her quick wit. I know that Mother Nature has many reminders of our friends and loved ones. This was truly a treat. I cannot wait to add more flowers to the garden. Our vision is to have beautiful color for all the seasons. In May 2019, the garden was dedicated in memory of the late Dr. Thomas Lawless. Each year we try to add something new. White lattice was added this July, and we’re hoping to plant some vine ivy on it soon to create a beautiful space to enjoy while honoring loved ones. Keep an eye out for our garden. It is beginning to take shape with every donation received for it. Enjoy!

Investigating our windows to the past
Gaye Miller, a well-known medium, has investigated our historical windows, which where donated to shield the bar in our Post House Ballroom due to Covid-19. Gaye has investigated our Angel in the window; stay tuned to next month’s Echo to hear the mystery behind our window.
