A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. It is important to choose an oncologist who can help you maneuver your treatment while you live your life to the fullest. The physicians of Elmhurst Memorial Hematology Oncology Associates (EMHOA) have adopted an approach to care that brings you the best of both worlds: exceptional care that’s close to home. Through an affiliation with the new Elmhurst Memorial Center for Cancer Care at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, you can receive a complete continuum of care with the same leading-edge procedures that you would receive at a university hospital. The doctors of EMHOA will begin treating patients in the new Elmhurst Memorial Center for Cancer Care on November 18. It will be the first time that all oncology services will be in one location including infusion services, medical and radiation oncology, Cyberknife and other cancer fighting technology, the breast center, cancer registry, nurse navigators and clinical staff. Dr. Amaryllis Gil, EMHOA medical director, is proud to be part of this new Center for Cancer Care. “We are committed to providing outstanding medical care, access to leading-edge technologies, and putting our patients’ best interest front and center. This new facility will help us do just that.” The Elmhurst Memorial Center for Cancer Care is a new 32,000 square foot facility located on the campus of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital that offers a more modern, comfortable and simplified experience for patients and their families by centralizing a variety of oncology services under one roof. “Our patients will be able to get lab work, see their doctor and undergo therapy all in one day,” says Dr. Gil.
The EMHOA physicians believe that good care is multidisciplinary, which is why they encourage their patients to count on them to be their personal navigators throughout their cancer journey. “Whether it’s taking the time to listen, coordinating the logistics of your care or scheduling appointments, we are here for you. We believe your time is much better spent enjoying life with your family and friends than it is trying to navigate the healthcare system,” explains Dr. Gil. In addition to four experienced hematologist/ oncologists, the EMHOA practice also includes a breast surgeon, Dr. Christine Gresik, who specializes in breast care. “Our services range from treating patients with breast cancer or high-risk breast disease, to helping women manage benign conditions, to providing cancer risk assessments and prevention plans,” explains Dr. Gil. “While going through cancer is never easy, it is our hope that our new location in the Center for Cancer Care can enhance the support we’re able to provide our patients and their caregivers,” concludes Dr. Gil.
