GRANVILLE — The LaSalle/ Putnam Educational Alliance for Special Education (L.E.A.S.E.) Cooperative and the Putnam County School District will offer a preschool screening on Monday, Aug. 3, and Tuesday, Aug. 4. The screenings will be held during school hours at the Putnam County Primary School, 400 E. Silverspoon Ave., Granville. Putnam County children who will be 3 years old on or before Aug. 3 are eligible for screening. The screening will cover small and large muscle development, speech and language
development, hearing, vision, cognition development and social skills development. Parents who have other developmental concerns about their child can discuss those during the parent interview. All Putnam County families with age-eligible preschoolers are encouraged to take advantage of this screening. Results from the screening process, along with the parent interview, will be used to determine eligibility for the early childhood program at the primary school building in Granville. Parents are
also required to bring a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate, proof of income (i.e. W-2 or the most recent last two pay stubs) and/or any other public assistance documents as a required step to complete the screening process to determine eligibility. At this time, the preschool program (Preschool for All) is a state grant-funded preschool program from the Illinois Board of Education. The program offers developmentally appropriate experiences for young children to strengthen their skills for success later on in school. The
program includes hands-on activities presented in a positive, encouraging environment. Each child brings his/her own experiences to the program, which also helps to enhance the program. Parents interested in making an appointment should call the school at 815-882-2800 and choose option one. Only one biological parent or legal guardian must be present at the screening with the child. Health checks will be done when entering the building and masks must be worn at this time. Preregistration is required.
