HIGH FLYERS
The five riders from Solution Action Sports Freestyle Motorcross used their 80-foot jump to give the Marshall-Putnam fairgoers high flying thrills on Thursday, July 13. After the success of last year’s BMX stunt show, organizers decided to open the throttle this year by inviting the 450cc dirt bike riders and they didn’t disappoint their fans. news@putnamcountyrecord.com HENNEPIN — Almost a year has passed since the Putnam County Board discussed the poor condition of Timberline Drive, but little has changed. Neither the county, Granville Township nor the village of Mark will claim responsibility for the short loop of 30 year-old road just north of Mark and west of Division Street. At that time, county engineer Pat Sloan said the road wasn’t in the Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) system. While Granville Township had filled the potholes, they were hesitant to accept responsibility for the cost of resurfacing the road without
funding assistance. Sloan has said it would cost an estimated $10,000 to fill the potholes and seal-coat the current road. To reconstruct it to an 18-foot width would cost approximately $30,000. In 1976, the original plans and specifications in the approved subdivision plans called for a 22-foot-wide road, but that was never completed. The estimate to rebuild it to those specifications would cost approximately $40,000. Sloan said no MFT funds can be released until the road meets state specifications and that the county doesn’t have jurisdiction over it.
