Putnam County School staying within budget By Shannon Serpette news@putnamcountyrecord.com

GRANVILLE — Putnam County School District is in good shape for its fiscal year ending June 30. At the school board’s meeting on Monday, May 18, Superintendent Jay McCracken said as of April 30, the district has only

spent 78 percent of its overall budgeted amount for this fiscal year. The district’s largest fund, the education fund, accounts for $8,300,855 of this year’s overall $10,898,030 budget. “We’ve only spent 77 percent of the budgeted amount (in the education fund),” McCracken said. As of April 30, the district

has received 88 percent of the revenue it anticipated receiving this fiscal year. The budgeted amount for revenue was $10,269,993, and the district had received $8,997,560 in revenue as of the end of April. The district received more corporate personal property replacement tax (CPPRT) than expected this fiscal year. McCrack-

en said it was anticipated the district would receive $2,821,250 in CPPRT, but it has actually received $2,851,132. With the amount of general state aid received by the district decreasing, McCracken said CPPRT is “one revenue stream that is still there for us.” In other news, board member Adriane Shore

said she was approached about the high school sign being in disrepair at Silverspoon Avenue and Route 89. Junior high school Principal Carl Carlson said the roadside sign for the junior high school in McNabb is also weathered and in need of repair. Any volunteers who would like to help the district improve the signs

should contact the school district. Any community assistance would be greatly appreciated. In other business, the board: • Heard a presentation from teachers Connie Hartman and Jennifer Ibarra about the Educational Program
