According to the most recent Quinnipiac University poll, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are in a dead heat to win in Iowa, which is considered to be one of 11 key battleground states in the 2016 general election. Less than 50 percent of eligible voters ages 18-29 cast a vote in the 2012 presidential election. The youth vote gave President Barack Obama the edge over Mitt Romney in key battleground states to help him win his second term. While many seasoned voters are ready for a break from the political mudslinging and constant bombardment of negative advertising, a new group of voters

will have its first opportunity to participate in a presidential election on Nov. 8. “I think it is important to be involved in every part of the political process that you can be involved in,” said Clarke Community High School senior Grant Wishon. “If you want to have your voice heard, the best way to represent that is to go out Wishon and vote ... if you want things to change, voting is the easiest and most effective way to get it done.” Several polls have attempted to reflect disgruntled voters and their lack of enthusiasm for who is at the VOTING | 4

DeVos has organized a free event for Sunday, Nov. 6, at Clarke Community High School. It is a 2-hour video presentation that is non-denominational and non-partisan. The event begins at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., and will be held in the Clarke Community High School auditorium.
