n wake of the Paris terror attacks two weeks ago, a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group said discrimination and crimes against Muslims are at an all-time high. The violence targeting Muslims – the threats and intimidation – are worse than after attacks on New York City 14 years ago. “It wasn’t this bad after 9/11,” said Dr. Fazal Khan, president of the American Muslim Community Organization in Lake in the Hills. Washington-based Council on American Islamic Relations, or CAIR, tracks these incidents, which include shots fired into mosques and homes, armed protests outside places of worship, threatening phone calls and letters, and violent attacks – particularly against women, activists say, because they were wearing a hijab. There are reports from all across the country. Both CAIR and the local mosque have condemned the attacks in Paris and other parts of the world. The Lake in the Hills mosque is no stranger to threats. Earlier this year, it received a letter referencing bombing people at mosques and praying for a civil war to shoot “you slime bags.” Since the Paris attack, Khan received another letter, but this time it was nonspecific and nonthreatPhotos by H. Colorado gunman: ‘No more baby parts’ By SADIE GURMAN The Associated Press COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The man who police said staged a deadly shooting attack on a Planned Parenthood clinic that offers abortion services said “no more baby parts” after his arrest, a law enforcement official said Saturday. The official could not elaborate about the comment by the 57-year-old suspect, Robert Lewis Dear. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation. CARY – The Village Board likely will decide whether to take a lead role in the design, engineering and planning phase of the village’s Metra station renovation project by the end of the year. Village Administrator Chris Clark provided an update on the project at the Nov. 17 Committee of the Whole meeting. He and Public Works Director Erik Morimoto recommended the village take on the financial responsibility for the design process as part of its contribution to the project. “It would give you better control over the appearance,” Clark told the board. “Of course, there’s Metra approvals and they have their own process we have to comply with ... but I believe it gives us the most control over the project.” The total cost of the project, which would demolish
