Sale and barbecue. Jeff and Jodi King are hosting the event to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of their daughter, Dana, who died from the disease in 2009. The sale is being held at Hawkeye Stages, 300 E. 17th St. S., with doors opening at 8 a.m. both days. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. with closing time at

5:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. A freewill donation is accepted for lunch with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the foundation. This is the second consecutive year for the barbecue and the garage sale is making a return after a couple of years off. DANA | 3A

Blues Traveler to perform Colfax works to beautify north at Iowa Speedway edge entryway By Jamee A. Pierson Newton Daily News Approval was given to move forward with the Trees Forever grant process to the Colfax Park and Recreation Auxiliary Board by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors Tuesday. The grant is part of the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Iowa Living Roadways Project Program and will be used to beautify the entryway on the north

edge of Colfax. The board agreed to support the project with a letter of resolution and act as the financial conduit for receiving funding reimbursement for the grant. “We would like to sow native Iowa wildflowers and plant trees in the right-of-way areas adjacent to Highway 117 at the entrance to our new city park,” Colfax Parks and Recreation member Doug SUPERVISORS | 3A

a series of membership renewals for the board. Within the past few meetings, the NCSD board has been going through the annual process of reviewing the district’s membership in various support organizations and private companies that consult and/ or offer other assistance

to school districts. Elbert was approximating a cost in terms of what Newton Schools pay to each entity, but the figure he mentioned was triggered by an exact $15,000 the board decided to spend at Monday night’s regular board meeting. The board unanimously approved an annual renew of a contract with Perspective Consulting Partners, LLC.
