PCM voters say yes to $10 million school bond

$20 million facilities project will move forward By Mike Mendenhall Prairie City News MONROE — A $10 million bond which will finance nearly half of the PCM Community School District’s building renovation and expansion plans was approved Tuesday with 69 percent of voters in favor of the measure. The $10 million will help finance approximately $20 million in renovations and ad-

ditions to all PCM’s school building facilities in Prairie City and Monroe. The district will pay for the remainder of the master plan with cash on hand and other existing revenue. Despite poor road conditions and winter weather, the Jasper County Auditor’s Office unofficial results shows 807 ballots were cast in the referendum. BOND | 3A

Post-caucus storm leads to closures By Jason W. Brooks Newton Daily News While this week’s storm held off until after the Iowa Caucuses were completed on Monday night, it still had a significant impact on planned activities in Jasper County and the rest of the state on Tuesday. A storm dropped as much as 10 inches of snow in some parts of the state by 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Accompanied by strong easterly winds, the slushy storm is expected to move out of central Iowa by Wednesday, but it will yield to a cold end to the workweek that could leave behind dangerous driving conditions.
