Three critically injured in collision at US 65 near IA 117 By Anthony Victor Reyes Newton Daily News MINGO — Three Marshalltown residents, including one 12-yearold, were transported with critical injuries to a Des Moines-area hospital after a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 65 near Iowa Highway 117 Sunday afternoon. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2015 Chevy Silverado was traveling northbound on Highway 65 when the vehicle failed to yield to a southbound 2000 Mercury Cougar. Officials at the scene said the Mercury struck the passenger side of the truck. Two air ambulances were dispatched to the accident site. Marshalltown residents, 50-year-old Victor Cisneros-Bravo, 48-yearold Blanca Gudino-Marin and a 12-year-old were transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in critical condition. DES MOINES — A Collins-Maxwell/Baxter coach and Collins-Maxwell Middle School social studies teacher was arrested Thursday on federal charges of coercion or enticement of a child. According to a criminal compliant filed in U.S. District Court in Des Moines, 24-year-old Luke S. Crouse was Crouse arrested by authorities after multiple sexually suggestive conversations in an online chat room with someone who Crouse believed to be a 14-year-old female. Crouse was actually communicating with an undercover Department of Homeland Security agent. Court documents state in chats that took place Feb. 28 and March 1, Crouse sent three nude photographs of himself through the chat and another wearing a Collins-Maxwell under armor top. The agent said Crouse appeared to be in a vehicle in at least one of the photographs. The complaints states some of the chats occurred at 3 p.m., “approximately right after Collins-Maxwell Middle School let out for the day.” Crouse has been the head boys golf coach for the joint-Collins-Maxwell/Baxter sports program for one year and is CMB’s assistant girls basketball coach. Baxter Superintendent Todd Martin said Friday his district is consulting with an attorney to receive guidance on how to address the arrest. He also indicated Baxter officials are in contact with their Collins-Maxwell counterparts and are fully cooperating with the investigation.

Sponsored by Jersey Freeze Ice Cream in Monroe, the run/walk event will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with the start and end of the race a the city square in Monroe. The fun run/walk also coincides with the spring opening of Jersey Freeze, 1010 S. Monroe St. Jersey Freeze opens for the year on Thursday.
