Greetings from the Mayor

GREETINGS FROM HOMER GLEN

George Yukich, Mayor

As I look back at the past eight years serving the Homer Glen community as Mayor, it’s such a joy to see all of the wonderful amenities in place for both residents and visitors to enjoy when they come to Homer Glen. I welcome you to the Village and hope you’ll enjoy the rich restaurant and dining options, leisure activities and parks, special events, and robust shopping opportunities in this Community Guide. I encourage you to shop and dine locally whenever possible. The support we show our local businesses is the reason we continue to have so many great new businesses opening year after year. The local sales tax revenue generated by your purchases are reinvested directly into maintaining and improving your community’s infrastructure and services. Over the years I’ve been approached by many business owners that told me how much it means to them when they see their local neighbors and friends patronizing their business. The owners, in turn, contribute back to the community with their unique presence and help sponsor our evergrowing special events. 2022 has been a year packed with lots of entertainment and events at Heritage Park, the Village’s crown jewel, 103-acre community park right in the middle of Homer Glen. Heritage Park was host to many special events and community gatherings throughout the year, including hosting six Market in the Glen farmer’s markets, three outdoor Movies Under the Stars, and the annual HomerFest community celebration. Additions are still being planned for the park as we continue to improve and build upon amenities for residents. One spotlight of Heritage Park is our tennis/ pickleball courts, which have seen a drastic increase in use over the past year. I am always hearing from our residents how much they love the sport of pickleball, and as more and more participants pick up a racket for the first time, we’ll continue to explore ways to make sure our growing community of pickleballers have plenty of options available for enjoying the sport. You can find out more about our Village through our Village website, public access TV Channel 6, YouTube Channel, Email Newsletter, and Facebook (including two brand new Facebook pages dedicated to the Recreation & Events department and Public Works). Village staff is ready to respond to your needs. For assistance, please call (708) 301-0632. The Village of Homer Glen will continue to be an ideal place in the southwest suburbs to visit, live or build a business. It’s been an honor serving the residents and business owners over my past two terms as Mayor, and please know that you’re always welcome in Homer Glen!
