GET OUT AND PLAY
There are an abundance of recreational and leisure opportunities for the entire family here in the Lemont and Homer Glen area. From a peaceful day in one of the area’s many parks, to trying to hit the fairway on a championship-level course, to one of the many activities at an 300-acre state-of-the-art adventure park, it’s time to get out and play!
HERITAGE QUARRIES RECREATION AREA
Just east of Lemont Downtown, Heritage Quarries Recreation Area is a 100-acre nature park where visitors can hike, bike, picnic, bird watch, boat, and fish. The quarries are freshwater lakes, offering one-of-a-kind boating and fishing experiences for the public. Cyclists, runners, and dog walkers can enjoy the Lemont I&M Canal trail that lies along the historic towpath of the Illinois & Michigan Canal, which loops around the park’s limestone quarry lakes.
THE FORGE: LEMONT QUARRIES
The Heritage Quarries Recreation Area is also home to The Forge: Lemont Quarries. The Forge is a state-ofthe-art adventure park designed to deliver unique year-round activities for adventures of all ages and abilities. Climbing, ziplining, laser tag, axe throwing, scavenger hunts, BMX & Mountain Biking, casual riding trails, and more. The Forge’s outdoor stage is home to great musical concerts and performances, perfect for relaxing after an adventurous day.
CAMP SAGAWAU
The 12,800-square-foot Camp Sagawau Environmental Learning Center provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the Lemont area’s natural history. The facility includes interpretive displays highlighting the natural wonders that can be found in the surrounding 17,000-acre forest preserves. Among the attractions are a 100,000-year-old dolomite limestone canyon, a graminoid fen, 900-year-old burr oaks and nearly 100 acres of dolomite prairie. The center also includes a window-lined ski lodge. Camp Sagawau is recognized as having some of the best cross-country skiing in the Midwest and visitors can ski daily during winter months. WATERFALL GLEN FOREST PRESERVE
Waterfall Glen is a 2,472-acre nature preserve located just north of Lemont on Lemont Road. It is owned by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District and offers extensive trails, picnic areas, bird watching, and fishing. One unique feature of Waterfall Glen is the large open field in the southwest section of the preserve that is a popular spot for local model aircraft enthusiasts. CENTENNIAL TRAIL
The Centennial Trail, which runs along the Des Plaines River near Lemont, can be accesed from the north side of the Lemont Road Bridge. The trail connects users to the state I&M Canal Trail, the Isle a la Cache Museum, downtown

LEMONT NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS
The Lemont Park District has over 20 parks tucked within Lemont’s many great neighborhoods. These parks feature fun play equipment, walking paths, picnic shelters, and sports fields.
HERITAGE PARK
Located behind Homer Glen’s Village Hall, Heritage Park offers passive and active recreational activities. The highlight of Heritage Park is the Active Core, which is seven acres of recreational activities including a natured-themed play area, a pavilion, bocce ball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, sand volleyball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, a challenge course, and swing sets with ADA accessibility.
HERITAGE PARK DISC GOLF COURSE
The Heritage Park Disc Golf Course is open to the public. Disc Golf is a fast-growing sport that is friendly for all ages. The fun course takes players throughout the park with 18 holes (baskets) of challenging obstacles, distances, and angles. The course begins immediately west of the Active Core, north of the Heritage Park parking lot.
HEROES TRAIL
The Heroes Trail system is made up of several different segments that span throughout the Village of Homer Glen, connecting parks, subdivisions, and shopping districts.

Including Heritage Park, the Village of Homer Glen operates and maintains 15 neighborhood parks.
