Greenway Motors celebrates 51st year in business By JEANNE MILLSAP Shaw Media correspondent Greenway Motors has long been one of the premier auto dealerships in the area. From new and pre-owned vehicles to top-notch repair services and a multi-authorized parts department, Greenway has been the choice of customers in search of a reliable vehicle or quality service of the ones they own themselves. The family business is in its 51st year, with Tom Greenway, Debbie Packley and Pat Greenway at the helm and other family members, such as Jacob and Ryan Greenway, also working at the dealership. Their staff is family, too, with many who have made their lifetime careers with the business. Tom Greenway said the business now has the most modern collision center in Grundy County, after the recent expansion of its service, body and repair shop. Its technology is better, the space was expanded, and the number of quality technicians was increased to eight. The body shop is certified to work on aluminum vehicles like the Ford F150, as well, Greenway said, which most body shops are not, and the shop has a high air pressure paint booth and a frame-straightening machine. A new tow truck at the business is tough enough to tow even trucks with dual rear wheels safely and securely. Greenway Motors is a Ford/ Chrysler/GMC/Ram/Dodge/Jeep dealership, and the selection of 2018 vehicles has everything drivers and passengers could want in their transportation. “Cars get more and more amazing every year,” Greenway said, “with the latest and greatest technology.” The dealership has several vehicles with lane-change sensor technology, which Greenway said is a great safety innovation and an option in almost every vehicle they sell. Another smart innovation is rear sensors, which provide backup warning signals that will give an alert if there is something behind the vehicle as it backs up.

It’s a young technology, and it’s a good one.” Greenway said he’s especially excited about the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan, which he said is very fuel efficient and a “wonderful people-hauler.” The big-selling American-made trucks and the sports utility vehicles the dealership sells are all placed

side-by-side on the lot, making it simple for customers to compare them. Pre-owned vehicles at the dealership are also of high caliber, he said. With many people choosing leasing options today and turning their vehicle in after a couple of years, many of Greenway’s pre-owned vehicles are only two to three years old, with only one owner. “People tend to take care of their leased cars,” Greenway said, “and when you buy a pre-owned car that was previously leased, you can save

40 percent over the cost of a new car.” The dealership’s professional sales staff are also something customers should take advantage of. Doing internet research, Greenway said, is good, but buyers shouldn’t forget to tell their salesperson what their individual needs are in their next vehicle. Greenway Motors has a history of giving back to the community, as well. From the 1960s, when the business began at the old Benson Pontiac in Morris, through the merging

of dealerships on Liberty Street in town, to its current location at 300 Bedford Road, the family has given over the years to sports teams, the Grundy County Corn Festival, the Lions Club Car Show and a lot more. Greenway said the family is taking his father Charles “Chuck” Greenway’s legacy and continuing to move forward, building on what they were founded on.
