he Metropolitan Alliance of Police (“MAP”) is dedicated to improving benefits and providing even greater protection for its members. Taking on added responsibility is nothing new to MAP. From the initial deliberations concerning police reform, MAP has been fighting for its members’ rights. MAP secured the talents of an experienced lobbyist and sent a team of advocates to engage members of the legislature. Despite numerous obstacles, MAP preserved qualified immunity and numerous collective bargaining rights for police officers. MAP built alliances within the house of labor, to address issues affecting its members.
On July 1, 2021, the Illinois Criminal Justice Reform Bill became law. Despite many successes by MAP, “The law made extreme, far-reaching changes to our law enforcement profession,” said Keith George, President of MAP. In addition, President George highlighted, “the law
