The Antioch Sequoits crossed over the 20-win mark this week with a win against rival Lakes, 63-38, on Friday. It was 34-15 at halftime. Paige Gallimore, Antioch’s leading scorer, checked in with 19 points. Amy Reiser was next with six. All this winning by the Sequoits has earned coach Tim Borries’ club a field trip to the playoffs. With a delightful No. 2 seed, Antioch heads for Guerin High School on 80th and Belmont in Chicago. From Antioch, that’s a major trip. If the Sequoits aren’t too exhausted, they can watch (15) Ridgewood and (18) Kelvyn Park battle it out and then play the winner of that game on Tuesday. Chicago-Latin is the seventh seed in the Guerin Regional. If Antioch beats that club, they will earn a trip to the Norridge Sectional. The No. 1 seed in this regional is Vernon Hills, which has two wins over Antioch this season. The next-highest seeded team locally is the Carmel Corsairs. Coach Kelly Perz’s club notched its 18th win of the season Feb. 6. Kathleen Felicelli dropped in 24 points in the 66-51 win over Wauconda. Emma Rappe added 17 points to the Carmel attack. Carmel won’t have to travel that far for the playoffs. This Mundelein-based team heads to Arlington Heights

for the post-season. Carmel is the third seed in the Norridge Sectional behind Antioch and Vernon Hills. Carmel should breeze in the St. Viator opener as the Corsairs play the winner of Elmwood Park and Chicago Sullivan. The title game is scheduled for Feb. 21. St. Viator is the sixth seed and will try to keep the Corsairs from a sectional berth. Our next-highest seeded team is coach Steve Ikenn’s Grayslake Central Rams. This team earned it’s 17th win of the season Saturday. Star Morgan Dahlstrom popped in 28 points in the 54-46 win over Woodstock North. She also grabbed 15 rebounds for an easy double-double. Carson Sparkman added 12 points. Central stays close to home in the playoffs as the Rams head to the North Chicago Regional. The Rams are the fifth

seed. That means the Rams open the regional against 11th seeded Chicago Northside. North Chicago is the fourth seed. The next best club is sixth-seeded Grant. The Fox Lake team heads to the CaryGrove Regional on Monday. It’s the late game (8 p.m.) as Grant takes on the home team from Cary. On paper at least, Grant might have lost to top-seeded Vernon Hills by 30 or more points on Feb. 7. However, Jasmine Sangster and Kaylie Kanzler combined for 29 points in the 59-46 loss. Barrington is a seventh seed in its own sectional. Can coach Babbi Barriero’s club make it to the sectional? They are a slight favorite to win the first-round game at the Lake Forest Regional. The foe is Conant. Good news came on Feb. 7 when Barrington stopped

Conant 49-36. Angie Kirchoff had 17 points in the win. Brooke Gunderson added 11 points. Fremd, a No. 2 seed, is the team to beat in this regional. Eighteen-game winner Grayslake North gets a tough draw at the Rolling Meadows Regional, not only because the home team is loaded, but the Knights only mustered a ninth seed. On Tuesday, the Knights take on Mundelein. The winner battles Rolling Meadows. Despite the daunting task, the Knights have repeated their Fox Valley Conference championship. On Feb. 7, North clinched the title with a 64-33 romp over Woodstock. Kendall Detweiler and Brittney Thibeaux combined for 35 points in the win. Maggie Fish added 12 points. Wauconda is the 10th seed in the St. Viator Regional. The Bulldogs’ task is difficult. On

Feb. 7, the Bulldogs dropped a tough one to a strong North Chicago team 42-37. Lauren Nee led the Bulldogs with 11 points. Lakes is the 13th seed in the North Chicago Regional and will take on the Warhawks. Lakes has five wins this season. Warren is the 15th seed in the Lake Forest Regional. The Blue Devils are playing much better than a 15th seed. In a 56-29 romp over Lake Zurich on Saturday, Kristen O’Brien led the way with 18 points. Freshman Rebekah Foley added 13 points. Warren will be a favorite Monday when they take on Lake Forest. The next day will prove to be more difficult when the winner has to battle Fremd. Round Lake is the 21st seed in the Buffalo Grove Regional. On Feb. 17, the Panthers will take on the Bison.
