County sheriff’s deputies and local municipal police responded to multiple accidents, while snowplow crews worked to keep the roads and highways passable.

2015 might be remembered as the year Route 47 finally got finished through downtown Yorkville. But that would be only one of the roadway projects Mayor Gary Golinski is pleased to see completed this year. The Game Farm Road expansion from Route 34 to Somonauk Street, which winds its way past three schools and hundreds of students in Yorkville could be equally high on the list. The improvements included wider roadways and a center turn lane, which many have heralded as big safety improvements for students. “I always worried about kids getting hurt on their way to school,” the mayor said. “Overall, I think it has been a very good year for Yorkville,” said Golinski, now in his fifth year as the city’s mayor. With several major infrastructure improvements complete, Golinski said he believes some development potential will begin to open up on several fronts in the city. Pointing to fiscal conservatism, Golinski noted that this is
