Vero Voce to present ‘Pocahontas’ KANE COUNTY CHRONICLE editorial@kcchronicle.com ST. CHARLES – The Vero Voce School of Performing Arts will present “Pocahontas” from Saturday, Nov. 16, through Sunday, Nov. 24. The show will take place at 1 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. Sundays at the Vero Voce School, 951 State Ave., Suite F, St. Charles. Lilly Nowak of Geneva will play Pocahontas. Other “Pocahontas” cast members include Jamie Maul (Aurora), Riley Sachse (Batavia), Mackenzie Hillmann (Campton Hills), Elisabeth Reuter (Carol Stream), Erica Johnson (Maple Park), Kayla Bussert (South Elgin), Nick Borodin, Ella Kobylecky, Lilly Nowak, Abageal Phelan, Isabelle Schamberger, Addison Zima (Geneva), Riley Brutto, Allison Cole, Trevor Cowart, Aaron Delaney, Maya Gutier-

rez, Girisha Kanuri, Skylar Knorr and Liam McCarron (St. Charles). Directed by Kim Maslo, with music direction by Melissa Pagano-Arndt, “Pocahontas” will be woven with Native-American lore and music. Simultaneously, Vero Voce will present “Pocahontas Uncut,” an alternate version of the show directed by David M. Rodriguez, theatrical artistic director of Vero Voce. Using the same cast and crew, “Uncut” will appeal to older audiences by adding meta-humor, sarcasm and dry wit to the same script. “Pocahontas Uncut” will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 23. KANE COUNTY CHRONICLE ST. CHARLES – Concert vocalist and recording artist Maureen Christine of St. Charles will perform “As Time Goes By: American Film Institute’s Top Movie Songs” on Sunday, Nov. 10, as part of the St. Charles Public Library’s Sunday Concert Series. Christine will perform at 2 p.m. in the Carnegie Community Room of the library. She is a pre-Grammy nominated, national recording artist, according to a news release. The public is welcome, and the concert is free to attend. The St. Charles Public Library is located at One S. Sixth Ave. in St. Charles. ELGIN – The four-piece, all-women band Stella! will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Elgin Community College in Elgin. The performance will take place in the SecondSpace Theatre, located in the Building H Arts Center on the Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The band, which hails from southeast Michigan, was created by singer-songwriter Jo Serrapere. Serrapere was inspired to put together a new group to showcase country-roots songwriting. The band includes Serrapere and three other musician/songwriters – Jen Sy-

git, Diana Ladio and Laura Ann Bates. Tickets to the performance cost $25. There will be a pre-show dinner prepared by ECC’s culinary arts and hospitality program and served in ECC’s Spartan Terrace Restaurant located near the theater. The pre-show dinner can be purchased for an additional $29. Dinners must be purchased in advance or before Wednesday, Nov. 18. Tickets are available online at tickets.elgin.edu, by phone at 847-622-0300 or at the ECC Arts Center Box Office, located in Building H on ECC’s campus. Box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
