Do You HATE Going To The Dentist? Are you embarrassed to smile? Is it time to schedule an appointment? According to Dr. Kim, “Excellent and complex dental care requires a significant investment of time. Patients who are sedated are not aware of how long they have been in the chair during an appointment, which enables them to remain relaxed and comfortable throughout longer procedures.”

There are countless reasons why people choose not to visit their dentist as often as they should, but the vast majority of them fall under a single category: fear.

Not only can patients benefit from sedation dentistry during an individual dental appointment, but it can also lead to a reduction in fear of the dentist.

To help people overcome their fear of the dentist, the team at Modern Dentistry in Sugar Grove are proponents of “sedation dentistry.”

“Positive dental experiences help to build a trusting relationship between an anxious patient and the entire dental team,” Kim explained. “It is not uncommon for anxious patients to require less expensive sedation or anxiety reducing procedures in the future, as they have gained confidence that dental therapy is not something that needs to be dreaded.”

Dr. Joseph Kim has performed thousands of sedation procedures. Most patients come to him by word of mouth. “We have many patients come from out of state for sedation and extensive dental treatment,” said Patient Care Coordinator Michelle Schultz.

He said that many patients find themselves finally able to return for their every-six-month exam and cleaning and are able to do so without the same level of fear and anxiety they originally had.

Dr. Kim said that the fear of dentists can sometimes cause anxiety so great that they lead to physical symptoms: panic attacks, sweating, nervousness, nausea. “Patients this fearful have a hard time even speaking on the phone with us to make an appointment,” Kim said.

“This promotes not only a healthy mouth, but also boosts the patient’s self-esteem and confidence,” Kim said. “It’s always amazing to see the transformation of patients who were embarrassed of their teeth. The emotional and financial investment that anxious patients make in their oral health is rewarded with a positive self-image in their healthy, new smile.”

This fear is often caused by either general phobia of the dentist, or it can be caused by a traumatic past experience or dental condition causing embarrassment or humiliation. Sadly, avoiding preventive and early treatment often turns smaller problems into serious diseases such as gum disease, painful and infected teeth, and further deterioration of their smiles.

For patients with great anxiety, Dr. Kim’s team often suggests IV sedation. For those who have a general fear of the dentist or just want to have a lot of treatment done at once, oral sedation is also available. Both have an amnesia component to them, so they have very little to no memory of the dental visit.

Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients facing this level of fear of dentists. However, there are things other people face that also can benefit from sedation dentistry. For some, their gag reflex is so severe that a patient requires sedation in order to have a treatment done. Other general reasons for sedation dentistry include people who need a lot of treatment to be done but do not want to return for multiple visits, and people who travel for work or cannot miss a lot of work due to dental treatments. In those cases, aided by sedation dentistry, more treatments could be done in fewer appointments.

“Sedation dentistry has helped many patients overcome their fears and allowed them to have the treatment they need,” Dr. Kim said. He encourages fearful patients to take advantage of a no-obligation, free sedation consultation.

AGAINST ALZHEIMER’S A lifelong Cubs fan, Joan “Mama” Schwartz loved going to Wrigley Field, and even met the players after she caught a foul ball.

AFTER HER BELOVED MOTHER-IN-LAW JOAN WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE, CHICAGO NATIVE LISA MICHELLE SCHWARTZ WANTED TO DO EVERYTHING SHE COULD FOR THE WOMAN SHE KNEW AS “MAMA.” Over the course of four years, Lisa and her husband Greg became Joan’s primary caregivers. “We wanted to ensure she was comfortable while she was going through this disease. We took her bowling, to the movies, Cubs games and dancing. She fought, but eventually she lost her battle in 2012.” Lisa said. Grief didn’t diminish the couple’s desire to be proactive. “We wanted to do something in Joan’s memory. I began to think what could I do with all this knowledge and information I learned as a caregiver, and became creative with it,” Schwartz said. First, they launched Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support, an open Facebook forum, which now has more than 12,000 likes and members. Each year, the forum has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day, an annual global fund raising and awareness event, held on the Summer Solstice, which is the year’s longest day. This year, Lisa and Greg have enlisted their dance troupe, the Chicago Honey Bears Dancers, to create The Largest Dance Party, one of many local, national and international events taking place on The Longest Day 2018, which is Thursday, June 21. The Largest Dance Party will be held at the DuPage County Fairgrounds Expo Center, 2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton, from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The event will feature performances by ten dance teams, both professional and non-professional, brought together by their desire to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Teams consist of at least five members and each team has raised a minimum to participate. The teams will compete in a friendly, spirited contest for prizes that include a chance to perform at the DuPage County Fair. Team slots may still be available, visit to learn more. The Largest Dance Party will also include performances by professional salsa and ballroom dancers, dance lessons, casino games, raffles, a vendor and craft fair, activities for kids and teens, guest DJ/Emcee Howard “Top Dawg” Wallace of A-Z Entertainment, and more. The evening’s highlight will be a Glow-Stick Flash Mob and Illumination Ceremony in tribute to loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease.

Admission is free; concessions will be available for purchase. Cash or check donations will be accepted at the event. To donate online, visit The Largest Dance Party event website, or www. Organizing The Largest Dance Party has helped Lisa not only to honor Joan, but also her grandfather who passed away from Alzheimer’s, and her aunt, who is currently living with the disease. Chicago Honey Bears Dancers’ co-producer and assistant line captain Amanda Kostro lost her grandmother, Betty, to Alzheimer’s, and many of the team’s volunteers know someone affected. “I participate in The Longest Day, because we believe together, we can fight this disease and support others going through it,” Schwartz said. “This event is all about having fun, while still raising critical awareness and funds. It will be a fun night to dance our way to find a cure.” To learn more about The Largest Dance Party or any other events connected with The Longest Day, please contact Ylandus Roundy at 847.324.0382 or email

We Move People

he goal of the Fox Valley Auto Group, Fox Valley Volkswagen St. Charles, Fox Valley Volkswagen Schaumburg and Fox Valley Buick GMC St. Charles is to sell and service new Volkswagen, Buick and GMC vehicles and all makes and models of pre-driven vehicles.

Abinion began selling vehicles to help pay for college and fell in love with the business. His first dealership was Landmark Ford in Niles, IL for 16 years.

Their focus toward providing superior customer service and excellent ownership experience has allowed Fox Valley Auto Group to expand over the years.

Their mission is to move people. But this is not about selling their customers a vehicle and repairing the ones they already have. It is about much more than that and it is certainly much more than two simple words. They want everyone who is in contact with their team members every day to be MOVED. Moved in many ways, but always for the better — better than before their engagement with them — whether it is financially, spiritually, emotionally as well as professionally. “We want to move people to a better place in their lives just by dealing and working with us,” said founder, President and CEO Emir Abinion. “Imagine the impact we can have on people’s lives with this as our focus. This is what it truly means to be of service.”

Emir Abinion, Founder, President & CEO, Fox Valley Auto Group Vice President, Pre-driven Vehicle Director and Partner Shakeel Omar, operated a successful pre-driven automotive retail store in Chicago, IL for over 16 years. Long-time friends, Abinion and Omar met when they were selling cars together at Golf Mill Ford in the mid-1980s.

Abinion added a new Volkswagen dealership in West Chicago in 2006, which in 2016 moved and expanded to a 40,000 square-foot facility in St. Charles. Fox Valley Volkswagen Schaumburg opened in 2008 and recently underwent a significant remodel both inside and out to enhance the customer experience. Fox Valley Buick GMC of St. Charles opened in 2011.

In 2016, Frank Butnaru, who worked for Abinion in sales at Landmark Ford, was named as a second partner and is the General Manager of the Volkswagen dealership in Schaumburg. The two are long-time friends, as well.

In 2012, Volkswagen awarded Abinion the Volkswagen Diamond Pin Award, a recognition bestowed on only four dealers in North America and 70 Volkswagen dealers world-wide, for their overall commitment to the brand and its customers. They were again recognized in 2015 with membership in Volkswagen’s Customer First Club. This accolade recognizes the dealership as a top performer in customer satisfaction on a national level. The two things that drive Abinion are finding ways to make it better and more convenient for the dealerships’ customers to do business with them, and how can they serve the community better. Fox Valley Auto Group has three locations and approximately 160 employees. Together, Fox Valley Auto Group sells about 5,000 vehicles and services over 54,000 vehicles annually. Abinion said the secret to his dealerships’ success is to treat people like he would want to be treated and to be a value through service to his customers and community. “This comes first before any vehicle is sold or serviced,” he said.

ight at Home is like a family caregiver except that caregivers are available 24/7 for all of a client’s care needs, whether for an hour visit or live-in care. Right Care, Right at Home is there when clients need help and out of sight when they don’t.

every day, with a typical day including a variety of meaningful cognitive and physical activities, in addition to assistance with the basic activities of daily living.

Right Services include Companionship Care and Homemaking, Physical Assistance, Hygiene, Wellness, Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care Services, Non- Medical Home Care, Respite Care and Health Reminders.

An innovative dementia care system uses Montessori-like activities based on the client’s stage of dementia to improve quality of life in a home setting.

Right at Home was founded by Allen Hager, a hospital administrator who watched many of his patients — especially seniors — leave the facility and return home, but not necessarily a return to health. Once home, many of Hager’s former patients were unable to care for themselves.

To ensure quality care, managers round with clients and caregivers regularly and conduct supervisory visits. Each month, respected home care research company Home Care Pulse conducts satisfaction surveys with a percentage of caregivers and clients. Families can track care provided using an operating system portal to view schedules, telephone records, daily care notes and invoices.

Creating Right at Home in Omaha, Nebraska in 1995, Hager branched into other regions of the country by carefully selecting franchisees who shared his passion for caring for those in their community.

Aging isn’t easy — not for the person getting older nor for their family. New challenges arise almost daily. Right at Home simplifies daily living for families in need. Owners, office staff and direct caregivers fulfill Right at Home’s promises to clients every day:

Right at Home currently has more than 500 locations serving tens of thousands of clients across the United States and internationally. Brian and Kathy Wetters opened their first local office in Batavia, Illinois in 2003 to provide home care services to clients in Chicago’s Far West Suburbs, opening a second office in Naperville several years later to serve the southwest suburbs. Both Brian and Kathy have experienced the stress of being long distance caregivers to elderly parents and truly understand a family’s concerns when it comes to making big decisions regarding long term care for a loved one. Right At Home’s mission statement, “to improve the quality of life for those we serve,” begins with Right Care — a comprehensive approach to delivering the care your loved one needs. Starting with the Right People, Right at Home seeks employees who are professional and passionate about caregiving, only hiring the top 15% of applicants. In 1986, the Austins moved their shop to its current location on Wheeler Road. Their business continued to grow, along with their family of eight children. The location presents easy access to several area studios and schools. Working out of their home also gave Patricia the opportunity to be close to her children while teaching full time. Dana converted the garage into a working shop for meeting with customers, as well as for luthier services. Upon Dana’s passing in 1994, Patricia took over the violin shop and gradually transitioned from full-time teaching to running the shop. The Austin’s oldest daughter, Honna, currently provides lessons in the studio two days a week, as well as at a large strings studio in Batavia. Daughter Holly graduated from the violin-making school and is now a luthier at the shop, and son Joel aspires to become a luthier.

IRON GATE MOTOR PLAZA Expansion Coming to Iron Gate Motor Plaza – the Ultimate Retail Destination for Motoring Enthusiasts

ne year ago, Brighton Auto Detailing polished up the first car in their new state-of-the-art detail facility at Iron Gate Motor Plaza, the auto-centric commercial development along the four-lane Ferry Road frontage of Iron Gate Motor Condos in Naperville. Soon, other car-related businesses joined the unique retail development, filling the two initial buildings which consisted of more than 35,000 square feet of commercial space, including a 5,000 square foot “jewelry box” showroom. A third building is planned for late 2018. Developer Tom Burgess has attracted merchants whose high standards of performance and customer service match his personal expectations. Open for business are Chicago Motor Cars Naperville; Empire Motorsport, a customization firm specializing in Jeeps, trucks and luxury cars; Fluid MotorUnion, a luxury car service center; Soundz Plus, an aftermarket installer of mobile electronics; and Brighton Auto Detailing. Plaza businesses are open to the general public, and for condo owners at Iron Gate, Burgess said, they make taking care of extra cars easier. “It’s like the idyllic, old-fashioned downtown where you can find what you need all in one place, while getting to know the business owners,” Burgess said. The Plaza will feature other businesses offering services for auto enthusiasts including restoration and fabrication, performance and specialty parts, wheel and tire, window tinting and clear bra protection, and classic car reproduction. The addition of the Plaza rounds out the vision that makes Iron Gate Motor Condos the gravitational center for the region’s car enthusiasts. Last summer, the Plaza businesses teamed up to offer their popular seasonal Cruise Nights every fourth Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 8 p.m., May through October. The first one of the season is May 23, so plan to “Cruise In” and meet fellow car enthusiasts at Iron Gate Motor Plaza. There will be cars, games, music, and fun! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Free and open to the public. Iron Gate Motor Condos is a gated community of 100 condominium garages (and another 100 to be constructed) designed for car collectors. This is a quality-of-life community where collectors can gather with like-minded individuals, display their collections and work

on their cars. Located at 2228 Ferry Road in Naperville, this is not just a storage facility. The entire tree-lined, 45-acre campus is designed for the car enthusiast, from the secure entrance gate and beautifully designed gatehouse, to the deluxe interior touches that come with each unit such as in-floor radiant heat, floor drain, and large windowed garage door for natural light. There is plenty of room for multiple cars, boats, motorcycles, motor homes and other “toys.” Owners have installed amenities like kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, fireplaces and even a basketball court; however, just as many have created a working garage without all the bells and whistles. The Iron Gate Motor Plaza is the latest step in Burgess’ desire to fuel the passion for automobile collectors and enthusiasts. Along with the Iron Gate Motor Condos, he’s created a community where “you come for the cars, but stay for the people.” If you are curious about Iron Gate Motor Condos and the Iron Gate Motor Plaza, visit or call (630) 945-1085 for more information, or to schedule a tour. You can also visit Iron Gate’s Chrome and Coffee Saturday open house, held the second Saturday of each month, year round rain or shine, from 9 to 11 a.m. where you will see a wide variety of cars, garage condos and meet some of the owners.

Peace 4 The Journey is non-medical, holistic support for the dying and their family. Wetters and her staff are able to be a support to someone in their time of need. Her staff is trained to provide assistance with funeral plans, facilitate family meetings to discuss end of life issues and insure advanced directives are in place. Wetters is a certified End Of Life Doula and an education partner with Quality of Life Care. She is also a master trainer for AgeUcate Training Institute, bringing education programs to family caregivers, long-term care providers and first responders. Wetters was inspired to create Peace 4 The Journey through her experiences with Right at Home, which provides in-home senior care in the Fox Valley area as well as the western and southwest suburbs. During her 15 years with Right at Home, she has seen how many individuals faced the end of life alone, or were unable to express their final wishes and planning with family. She also witnessed how families sought more support during difficult times. With Peace 4 The Journey, Wetters and her team focus on walking alongside the dying

person and providing emotional support to the family. The aim is to increase compassion and companionship for those who are dying. Wetters and her team are able to help families to honor last wishes. For some, understanding a loved one’s wishes for care and treatment in their final days can be overwhelming, confusing and even frightening. Through Peace 4 The Journey a family can rely on someone to provide guidance and compassion. Wetters and her staff understand how to provide support to the family as they prepare and move into the transition from life to death and into a state of mourning. For many, an End Of Life Doula can provide the practical and emotional support to someone dying and their loved ones, providing assistance to create a more peaceful transition. An End Of Life Doula can provide gentle guidance, information on options and resources and spiritual support. An End of Life Doula can be a resource to listen and provide a soothing space, a caring touch. Peace 4 The Journey is based in Batavia, making it easy to access communities in the Fox Valley area and throughout Chicagoland. Services are provided as needed and available every day of the year. At Peace 4 The Journey, the staff understands grief and the emotions after the loss of a loved one don’t fit into a timetable. Making Beautiful Music

usical Expressions of

Illinois owner Susan Good has a passion for music that started at a young age. In fact, early childhood photos of her as a toddler sitting at the piano can attest to her musical interests.

Inspired by her now 91-year-old father who continues to play the piano and accordion, she is a musician with a degree in piano performance. It seemed logical for her to open this type of business, but the main focus is truly all about the students, she says.

“We believe in what we do and believe music lessons should be fun, hence our motto ‘Where Learning is Fun,’” Good says. “We provide a variety of experiences that students can participate in such as recitals, ensembles, workshops and are always trying to come up with new ways to keep students involved and excited about learning.”

Lessons, rock band and storms, oh my! Founded in 1989, Naperville-based Musical Expressions of Illinois offers music lessons for all ages in all instruments, including voice, and taught by outstanding teaching faculty. Piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, bass guitar, French horn, trumpet, trombone, flute, saxophone, clarinet,

drums, ukulele and timpani and vocal lessons may be scheduled in 30 minute or hour increments. A new program showcases vocal students who learn to perform together singing harmonies, melody lines and solos while “movin’ to the groove.” One of the more unique aspects of Musical Expressions is the rock band program, Good says. The inaugural performance was Nov. 25, 2002 at the Cabaret Bar & Grill in Naperville, making it the oldest rock band program in town. The class is divided by age groups, typically three or four groups that each have a weekly 90-minute lesson for 10 weeks, followed by a final performance at a local venue, such as Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn, Two Brothers in Aurora, Synergy, The Back Door in West Chicago and Bally Doyle’s in Downers Grove. This program actually has some of Good’s most memorable moments in her career. During two separate outdoor final performances, sudden rainstorms swept through bringing massive amounts of rain and wind. As audience members dove for cover and performers valiantly held on to the tents and their instruments, Good remembers the school motto played a heavy role that day. “We were all laughing hysterically as we got thoroughly soaked,” she says. “We’ll never forget the soaking we all got and the laughter we shared.”

Only the best will do As a teaching studio, only instructors who have a passion for teaching are hired. All of the teachers are degreed or have had many years of teaching and performing experience. Each teacher specializes in the instrument the client wants to learn and customizes the student’s lesson to their age and ability. Additionally, parents can be assured the studio is a completely safe and secure environment for students to have lessons. Background checks are conducted on all instructors, and there are windows in the doors and cameras in each teaching studio. Musical Expressions is serious about student safety and allowing parents to feel safe and secure when their son or daughter is taking their music lesson. After all, most of the staff consists of parents! It’s clear Musical Expressions of Illinois staff goes the extra mile for their students with not only top-notch instructors, but also with the use of the Musical Ladder System. Music schools across the United States and Canada are using the system to inspire students to find time to practice, as well as enhance their love for music.

90-180 days students have a test with their private music instructor. Passing students receive a colored wristband with the name of the level they passed, earn a certificate and, at some levels, even walk away with a trophy. Instructors work diligently for the students to get the most out of their lessons and for their parents to get the most value. The full-time staff is available to answer questions and meet the needs of its customers. With nearly 30 years in the business, Musical Expressions of Illinois has seen its share of economic downturns and has continued to see growth in a competitive and constantly changing environment. “We have faced many challenges over the years and we’ve learned from every one of them,” Good says. “It is an honor and a privilege to bring music into the homes of thousands of students over the past 28 years.” Musical Expressions of Illinois chose their new location conveniently located behind Naperville North High School as the best spot to build beautiful custom-designed studio space, as well as provide ample parking, easy access and room to grow.

The program works similarly to karate belt tests. Every

Your Family’s Summer Essential…

the perfect nanny, tutor or sitter! With summer vacation just around the corner, it’s time to call College Nannies+Sitters+Tutors, NapervilleSouth. The agency’s summertime care helps families give their kids a summer of supervised, responsible fun. Specialized tutors can not only help with academic subjects, but also with college entrance exam prep, and college application essays. What makes College Nannies+Sitters+Tutors unique? “No one else offers cradle to college support for families, like we do,” said Janene Gatling, owner of the Naperville-South franchise. College Nannies was founded in Minnesota in 2000, and is now the nation’s most respected, complete and professional resource, helping families raise smart, confident, well-adjusted kids. The largest employer of sitters and nannies in the U.S., every employee goes through a national background screening and interview process. The company has built local professional teams across the country who’ve helped hundreds of busy parents have help on hand with a parttime or full-time nanny, find their college-bound student the tutoring help they need, or simply carve out time for themselves, with a sitter they can trust. College Nannies+Sitters+Tutors, NapervilleSouth, is your trusted local connection to a quality sitter, and partners with families as kids grow and needs change. It may start with a nanny who provides full time care, but as schedules change, a sitter is a better fit. Then

as the children grow older, they might need a tutor. A College Nannies Family Placement Manager will get to know you and your family’s needs, then match you with a local sitter who is the perfect fit. The company also offers a guarantee that your sitter, nanny or tutor will show up, on time. In a world where you can find a date, order a pizza and binge watch every “Gilmore Girls” episode, all from your phone; the solution to finding qualified, reliable sitters who have a passion for watching kids is just an app away. The College Nannies MySitters™ app, available at popular app stores, allows parents to find care providers, review profiles, schedule and leave notes for care providers and more, conveniently from their phone. When asked about the company’s growth, Gatling said, “Our community is growing and changing. It’s tough for a lot of families, because they are new to the area. Maybe Grandma used to watch the kids and now she’s far away. The high school neighbor is busy with her own social life. Parents can either spend hours on the phone trying to line up a sitter, put their lives on hold (again), or they can contact us. We’re here to provide a trusted connection to a quality sitter.” Janene earned her Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Virginia State University and has worked professionally in childcare off and on for 20 years. Think Buff & Coat!

AABE Winner Renews Floors for ½ the Cost

uff & Coat Hardwood Floor Renewal is celebrating its eighth year in business along with another milestone for owner Ray Horan. His company just received the Annual Award for Business Excellence (AABE) in the small business category from the Daily Herald Business Ledger. “It’s been a great honor to help people in the western suburbs love their hardwood floors again!” Ray said. The Buff & Coat process is an alternative to traditional hardwood floor re-sanding at about half the price. It features a dustless, low VOC (less odor) process that renews a wood floor in just under a day without the mess, hassle, and clean-up of traditional wood floor sanding. Ray said since it’s the floor topcoat that wears the most, homeowners should keep it maintained and protected. “People look at their worn, dull floor and think ‘time to re-sand.’ We want them to think, ‘time to Buff & Coat!’” he said. “Our process actually extends the time needed between re-sanding. It also yields an easier-to-clean floor.” If a floor is too worn for the Buff & Coat process, the company also provides traditional re-sanding. In the Buff & Coat process, the floor receives a deep cleaning, then is abraded (buffed) to remove cosmetic scuffs and

For example, they recently refinished the floor at the Pre-Emption House at Naperville’s Naper Settlement Museum. The company has received the Angie’s List Super Service Award six times, an accolade only presented to the top five percent of contractors. For the past four years they have also earned the “Best Pick” designation by Home Reports from EBSCO research.

BOB JASS Recognized for 25 years of ownership

Business at Bob Jass Chevrolet started off 2018 with a wonderful distinction: Bob Jass was recognized by General Motors for being the dealership owner for 25 years. In December of 2017, Brad Finley, Chicago Zone Manager, and Rob Dusek, Chicago District Manager, came to the store to personally present Bob with the award.

is proud to announce that we have added a new salesperson to the staff! Joe Howland comes to us with more than 20 years of experience selling vehicles in the Chicago suburban area. “We couldn’t be more pleased and proud to have Joe join us,” says Ryan Easter, General Manager. “Joe is an outstanding salesperson and individual. His character and manner of doing business fit in perfectly with the way we do business here – honestly and fairly.” “Joe’s knowledge of the local vehicle market, combined with his character and high level of ethics is perfect,” says Bob Jass, Owner. “It’s exciting to be able to have him join our team. Adding Joe Howland to the staff is going to make our already amazing sales staff just that much better.”

“It’s certainly been wonderful, owning this store for 25 years. We have seen extraordinary changes in vehicle designs and capability, and our customer base has grown tremendously. We are now selling vehicles to the grandchildren of our original customers,” said Bob. “And I know we will continue to grow because we offer the best products at the best prices, and we absolutely have the best customer service in the entire industry.” Bob Jass Chevrolet has never been your typical dealership, and industry awards bear this out. Two significant awards recently given to the dealership are the Mark of Excellence award from General Motors, and the “2017 CarGurus Top Rated Dealer” award. Both honors point to the fact that Bob Jass Chevrolet focuses on customer satisfaction as well as a commitment to do things the right way.

Ream’s Meat Market has moved to their new location next door to our dealership. With plenty of parking and an expanded floor plan, they continue to offer their original recipes and awardwinning products. It’s easy to see why they are famous in our region. Approximately 2,000 new homes will be going up near the Elburn train station – all within walking distance of the Metra station and walking and bike paths. And in the midst of all this, Bob Jass Chevrolet continues to grow, serving customers at our newly remodeled and expanded showroom and service department. Stop in and see what’s new. At Bob Jass Chevrolet, our philosophy is that customer satisfaction is our number one priority. Whether you are purchasing a new or used vehicle, or are bringing in a vehicle for service, we are committed to making your experience here one of satisfaction and confidence in our employees and the services they provide. That’s something that will never change.

For his part, Joe says, “I’m humbled and proud to join the Jass team, where outstanding character and old-fashioned values are a normal way of doing business.” So, when you get a chance, stop by the dealership, and say hi to Joe. We are sure you will come to like him as much as we do!

Bob Jass Chevrolet is happy to announce that Mike Frantzen is now manager of our service department. Mike comes to us with 30-plus years of experience in Chevrolet service department management. “We are so happy to have Mike join our team,” said Ryan Easter, general manager. “Mike has years of experience with General Motors, and a wealth of knowledge in management and the service department industry. We look forward to working together with Mike and continuing to build our outstanding service department.”

Bikers Benefit from Park District Grants Funding

veryone knows Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles as the go-to place for mini-golf, pedal boats, playgrounds, riverboat cruises, swimming, fishing and picnic shelters. Now, thanks to a funding grant, the park is also home to a new Bike Plaza. Riders traveling over the miles of trails that wind along the banks of the Fox River have come to see Pottawatomie Park as an oasis, a serene and scenic place they can stop for clean restrooms, tasty refreshments and recreation opportunities. And with the

Vibrant signage directs bikers to each plaza, which are also outfitted with water bottle fill stations, benches and weather-proof bike path information holders. “One of the scariest things for bikers is to be out on a trail and not have a way to take care of any mechanical emergencies,” said Laura Rudow, Superintendent of Parks and Planning. “These bike repair stations can give riders great peace of mind.” Each station comes equipped with numerous commercial-grade, rubber-coated, flexible cable-tied tools, including various-sized screwdrivers and wrenches, that enable bikers to do everything from raising or lowering a seat to adjusting tire alignment. Elevated hanger arms allow the bike to be mounted at eye level to make repairs easier to manage and an air pump helps take care of any flat tires. “The biking community is a very active, socially connected network,” said Rudow. “Our Bike Plaza is helping make the park district even more of a destination for avid bikers as it provides respite to the distance biker.”

Cheryl quickly followed up with Maxine by phone. Cheryl empathized with her, so she took an hour and a half Uber ride to go see her. “When I arrived, I could tell she didn’t belong there,” Cheryl said.

When you’re looking for quality senior living for yourself or a loved one, it really helps to talk to someone who lives there. Listen to what Maxine Lelivelt has to say about the new Arbor Terrace Naperville: “Look for a place where people care about you. For me, it’s Arbor Terrace!” Maxine should know. She was living in a different senior living community and just knew there had to be a better place. Through an online search she came upon Arbor Terrace, and read the profiles of the experienced staff. Senior Care Counselor Cheryl Ghassan’s profile caught her eye. Cheryl has a passion for helping seniors that developed over more than 25 years in the senior living industry. She holds degrees in gerontology and business administration and a certification in dementia care. Maxine was intrigued, so she sent Cheryl a fax, wanting to learn more.

So she paid for an Uber for Maxine to visit Arbor Terrace. Maxine was impressed, and decided to move. Unfortunately, she didn’t have any furniture, or family in the area to help. So Cheryl and Executive Director Barbara Foster took Maxine under their wings, and helped her order furniture and decorate her apartment. To protect her, they introduced her to a good attorney, and provided her with transportation to establish a new account in the area.

Life Since Arbor Terrace A woman of faith, Maxine felt her visit to Arbor Terrace was nothing short of divine intervention. “This is home to me. Every day I say thank you, Lord, for guiding me here,” she said. What does she like about Arbor Terrace? “There are so many things,” Maxine said. “The personal attention from Cheryl, Barbara and staff, the friendly residents, all the activities and the delicious food.”

A farm girl from downstate Illinois, she has a healthy appetite.

“The food here is to die for. I’m a vegetarian, and if you ask the chefs for something different, they try,” she said. She also remarked about the activities, as many as eight a day. Her first day she went to an exercise class, and then she was invited to a painting class. She had never painted before, but she ended up painting a beautiful butterfly. “Arbor Terrace is opening all kinds of new activities to me,” she said. A music teacher for 33 years, Maxine had a connection with Naperville. Her husband had attended North Central College, and as a teacher she knows the importance of having quality educational facilities nearby. She appreciates the live music and other entertainment at Arbor Terrace, also knowing that everything Naperville has to offer is just minutes away. Arbor Terrace is committed to helping seniors stay in control of their own destinies, safely and compassionately. The new 80,762 square-foot, one and two-story community offers 95 spacious apartments with virtually every amenity imaginable, including advanced tech tools to help maintain daily communication with family.

For 30 years the Arbor Company has specialized in developing state-of-the-art senior living and memory care communities, striving to meet the needs of every resident by creating familyinclusive plans for each stage of aging. In addition to assisted living and secure memory care, Arbor Terrace is unique in offering Bridges, a neighborhood combining the freedom of an assisted living environment with added expert care and cognitive support when needed. This allows residents to live as independently as possible in the earlier stages of memory impairment. Arbor Terrace is the only senior living community in the area that offers a Satisfaction Guarantee. If you change your mind within the first 60 days and they can’t resolve your concerns, they’ll refund your monthly fees and help you find another solution. A limited number of Charter Club memberships offering special incentives and benefits are still available.

“Arbor Terrace is one of the most wonderful things that ever happened to me. It’s become my family,” Maxine said. It can become yours too. Call or come by for a tour today.

Not only is she able to use her sales skills, but also her creativity, to help clients effectively market their homes. “I use the highest end photographers, stagers, social media experts and do all of my own literature,” she says, adding that Baird & Warner’s marketing tools make her professional marketing plans flow seamlessly.

An energetic full-time Realtor, Susan specializes in residential real estate, selling luxury homes and town homes in the greater Naperville area.

“Baird & Warner is the leader in the industry and especially, we are very present in Naperville,” she says.

A resident of Naperville, she considers the entire community her office, and is an expert on local neighborhoods, schools, price points and even how to find off-market properties. “I live in and enjoy Naperville, so it makes sense that I sell Real Estate here,” she says. A graduate of Florida State University with a background in sales and marketing, Susan was ready for a new career challenge once her children reached school age. After talking with three childhood friends who are now high profile Realtors, Susan knew what her next career move would be. “We laughed and said if they could do it, I could too,” Susan remembers. Within three months, she was selling houses for the local Baird & Warner office. “I was lucky when the work didn’t feel like work, it was so fun and

Susan is also never far from her work. “My friends and family say I’m obsessed and I take it as a compliment. In this business, word of mouth is extremely powerful and I treat each client with the care they deserve. I am available seven days a week to make sure I’m ready to show you houses or negotiate,” she says. She considers her strengths to be her self-motivation, attention to detail, networking skills, and the ability to always be learning. “Over the course of my career, I’ve had so many transactions and each one teaches a lesson about how to do the next one better,” she says. Though the pace is hectic, Susan maintains a healthy lifestyle by working out with a personal trainer and making time for family and friends. “Being a Realtor allows me the freedom to work from home, take my kids to school and activities, create original marketing, host open houses, and negotiate contracts with ease. I’m motivated by fun and money- and this business offers both!”
