STERLING – Thanks to unseasonably mild weather, construction started this week at the Lincoln Learning Center site. Excavation work started Monday at the site next to the Lincoln-Manahan Home, and the construction company is getting ready to pour the foundation. The Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society had decided to delay all work until spring when the group realized the extent of the paperwork, surveys, and architectural designs needed before they could apply for a building permit. Dixon police are looking for three black men who entered the store at 166 Keul Road around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the first pointing a handgun, and all wearing masks. They tied up employees, took an as-yetunknown amount of cash and merchandise, and fled in less than 10 minutes, Chief Danny Langloss said. Their methods were the same as in Tuesday’s robbery in Rock Falls, Langloss said. ROBBERY continued on A54
