STERLING – In emails to patients, Dr. Neal Jones is telling Sauk Valley Orthodontics patients who prepaid for services that they won’t be getting refunds. In response to one patient’s email about prepaid services, Jones said that the business failed, and it had declined to the point where it could have been closed a year ago. “No refunds occur when the office closes,” Jones said in an email. He then offered a rather odd apology. “We regret the loss of money, time, and frustration,” Jones wrote. “Unfortunately, Bank of America will not be getting $800,000, as the company’s closure put their loan in the fail column, too.”

Threat keeps 220 students at home Police presence will continue ‘if deemed necessary’ BY JERMAINE PIGEE jpigee@saukvalley.com 800-798-4085, ext. 5525
DIXON – Because of a threatening message found Monday at Reagan Middle School, about 220 students were not in attendance Tuesday. “We usually run about a 95
$1.00
percent student rate each day at Reagan Middle School,” but well over a third of the roughly 580 students stayed home, Superintendent Michael Juenger said Tuesday afternoon. Danielle Blum Simpson of Dixon kept her children out of class.
