Egg hunt today in Oregon ...

OREGON – The Easter bunny will join fifth- through eighth-graders in a flashlight egg hunt at Oregon Park West in Oregon tonight. Games begin at 6:30, followed by the hunt, in two groups, around 7:45 p.m. Bring a flashlight and a basket to collect eggs and candy prizes.

• That Place on Palmyra, 628 Palmyra Road in Dixon, will hold hunts for infants to age 4 at 10:30 a..m.; for ages 5 to 7 at 10:45 a.m.; and for ages 8 to 12 at 11 a.m. There also will be children’s activities, face painting, and a visit from the Easter bunny. • Sugar Grove School and Church will have its third annual egg hunt for ages 2 to 12 at 11 a.m. at 352 Timber Creek Road. • Dixon Park District’s Easter egg hunt begins at 1 p.m. at Wooden Wonderland and the soccer fields on Washington Avenue for kids in the following age categories: up to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 6, 7 to 8, 9 to 10, and 11 to 12. Participants are asked to bring a bag or basket. There also will be prizes.

Students in Kathy Shirley’s sixth-grade English and reading class show off their boatload of chickens Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary Catholic School in Dixon. The eccentric bunch raised money to buy chickens as part of the school’s participation in the Hope for Haitians program. In order to get the word out, the class created a cardboard boat to help steer the fundraiser forward.

LYNDON – The Wright family’s annual egg hunt begins at noon Saturday at Richmond Park, at East Fifth Avenue and East Fourth Street in Lyndon. There will be a cookout, games, a petting zoo, and a bounce house. More than 10,000 eggs will be hidden, and prizes awarded.

Music and more at the Post House

DIXON – Fourth Fridays Open Mic begins at 7 tonight at the Post House Community Center, 100 W. Second St. Each musician or band performs four songs, and a jam session will follow. Instruments are acoustic, a sound system is provided, and many different styles of music are featured. Poets and short-story writers are welcome.
