$23,000 raised for Village of Progress at playday
OREGON — Enthusiastic golfers and generous supporters helped raise more than $23,000 for the Village of Progress Foundation and Larry Young & Friends Charities during the VOP’s recent golf playday. “Generous sponsors, gracious donors along with fun participants and volunteers were the key to a successful day. Those who attend the Village are truly fortunate to have such supportive friends. Team Cacciatore won and generously donated winnings back to The Village of Progress,” said Sherri Samsel Egan, VOP Assistant Director. The Village of Progress, Inc., located in Oregon, works with Ogle County adults with developmental disabilities to challenge them to reach
their potential at work and in the community. The organization’s mission is that all Ogle County Adults with developmental disabilities feel valued and respected and believes all persons should be treated with respect regardless of intellectual or physical disabilities. “We believe that interaction with
the community, even one person at a time, has value in changing perception about those with developmental disabilities. The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD) will be hosting its monthly residential electronics recycling event on Friday Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 909 Pines Road in Oregon. This event is for Ogle County residents only and a free permit is required in advance of the event. To obtain a free permit call 815-732-4020 or email solidwaste@oglecounty. org. Autumn on Parade to host ‘first-ever’ beer garden on Oct. 2
Autumn on Parade will host its first beer garden in the history of the festival on Saturday, Oct. 2. This special day-ling event is part of the festival’s 50th anniversary celebration. The beer garden will be located in the 100 block of S. Jefferson Street, between 3rd & 4th streets. You must be 21 to enter. A cover charge will be collected, which will also include a first beverage. The popular local band “Burn N’ Bush” will be performing from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Another local favorite, “Blue Steel”, will perform from 3-6
