The Forreston Village Board will have information on the Tax Increment Finance and Business Development Districts available on the village website, and a time and date are officially set for the BDD public hearing. During Monday evening’s village board meeting, Community Funding & Planning Services consultant Sharon Pepin presented the board with the development plan for the Ill. 26, Ill. 72, and Forreston downtown BDD. “I’ve brought some light reading material,” joked Pepin as she submitted the nearly 40-page document to the board. Village clerk Courtney Warren says the plan will be available for view online via the village website, forreston. municipalimpact.com, within the week. The plan included the feasibility and eligibility studies, as well as the purpose of the BDD, future projects, and an analysis on the proposed district. After being presented the plan, the board passed an ordinance setting a public hearing for Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Forreston Public Library, 204 First Ave., to discuss the BDD with the public and gather feedback. Ahead of the public meeting, the board plans to publish two notices in the newspaper, as well as send out a letter to businesses within the district boundaries, outlining what the BDD is, what it means for the businesses themselves, and what the village’s intentions would be with the revenue. The 164th Ogle County Fair may have set a record for the coolest temperatures ever. At an event usually noted for the very steamy 90s, this year early mornings and late nights in the low 50s called for long sleeves and maybe even a jacket. Daytime temperatures reached just to the upper 70s with low humidity. Fair board president Harlan Holm said he couldn’t remember a fair that was overall as cool. “Thursday night when that cool front came through, it was darn cold. I put a sweatshirt on,” he said with a chuckle. It was still sweatshirt weather Friday morning when a stiff breeze added another dimension to the chilly temperatures. “It warmed up fast every day though,” Holm said. “And I’d rather have it in the 70s than the 90s.” An estimated 17,000 turned out for fair, which was held
