Creston’s newest and only uptown art supply store will open its doors Tuesday. The store, Create Creston, will be a full-service art supply store built toward helping anyone with their art or crafts projects along the way. “We are going to be a full-service art supply store,” said Brian Zachary co-owner of Create Creston. “And so the one side has everything you’d expect in an art supply store.” Already hanging from the walls on the right side of the store are rainbows of paint colors, earrings, paintings and finished works of art.

Southern Prairie YMCA and Creston Community School District formed a partnership to offer a new, affordable after-school program to the community during the upcoming school year. After School Enrichment is for students in junior kindergarten through fifth grade and runs Monday through Friday from the dismissal of school until 6 p.m. The program will offer a variety of activities for students, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) challenges, physical activity, healthy snacks and swimming. “I think they have many things to offer at the Y with the swimming pool and the swimming lessons, the staff,” said Lesa Downing, After School Enrichment assistant director. “I think that’s really going to help. Long term, I hope it changes the cul- Downing ture of our community. I think what our kids are doing after school will help them to be thinkers and carry over in the classroom in their daily lives.” Registration for the after-school program is done at the Y. The cost is $70 per week per student and $60
