New Gibson Memorial Library website live By KYLE WILSON

CNA managing editor kwilson@crestonnews.com

Gibson Memorial Library’s new website is live and ready for browsing. View the website at www.crestonpubliclibrary.com. The site — built by Websites to Impress in Carroll —is much cleaner, more attractive and functional than the library’s former website. “It’s an experience now instead of a list of links,” said Mandy Houk, marketing consultant for the library board. “Feel free to check it out.”

Among others, the new website has links on the homepage for genealogical resources for those interested in uncovering their Houk heritage, library catalog allowing you to search the library’s inventory for your favorite book and information on how donating your Hy-Vee receipts can help generate funds for the library. You can also view the new website using these two URLs: www.

crestonarealibrary.com and www. gibsonmemoriallibrary.com. This new website comes as the library board begins work with an architectural firm (FEH Associates of Des Moines) on the expansion of the current library building on West Howard Street. FEH has managed more than 100 library projects in the past 20 years. The library board does plan to use the website and their Facebook page to provide information on the building project. This is the sixth year for the contest and the third year in a row Elm’s Club, 108 N. Elm St., has made the top 10. “It is a lot of fun just to be involved in the contest,”

said Elm’s Club co-owner Donna King. “It generates some new customers for us and it really makes us appreciate our customers and staff.” More than 4,000 votes were submitted, nominating 286 restaurants in February and March. The top 10 were visited by unanimous judges and critiqued on the hamburger’s taste, appearance, and proper
