DESIGN TRENDS:

Natural Selection

W

hether it’s a day of apple picking, or a pantry full of pumpkin spice, everyone has their own special way to usher in the fall season. One of my favorite things to do is to bring the beauty of the changing colors indoors. Tones of terracotta can be found throughout the fall landscape and have been a hot trend all year. These warm, earthy colors personify the image of curling up to the fire; and I love the look of layered neutrals using subtle pops of color in the pillows and tabletop decor. Swapping out accessories is an easy way to create a cozy fall nest in no time flat. Fill your vases with dried branches, add wooden beads, or a collection of seasonal candles to warm up and refresh your space as the cooler temps roll in. n

The chandelier (above) gives the room an organic feel by echoing the unexpected contours found in nature, while the glass globes encircling the tips cast a warm glow. A fresh fall layer of dried grasses mixed with sculptural ceramics in amber and blue adds texture and dimension. All available at potterybarn.com
