Technical Rider The Adventures of Isabel Tour Please note: Haze will be used in this production and the audience will be required to remove their outdoor footwear as they will sit inside the carpeted set. Please get in touch as soon as possible if you have any concerns about this. The production will not performed without these requirements.

A dance theatre performance containing animation. The show runs with no pauses or intervals.

The piece is performed in costume. The piece is performed in a set 7.5m wide and 6.5m deep. The set includes mirrored flooring that lays directly on the stage floor (taped with duct tape to the stage floor) and covered with a green exhibition style carpet that is taped with duct tape to the stage floor. There are then 12 wooden seating panels and a wooden bridge that makes up the rest of the set.

We tour black masking stands to act as a makeshift on-stage changing area and a house for the various props in the show.

The audience must sit inside the set in the seating provided due to interactive nature of the show. The set can seat up to 60 people plus 3 spaces for wheelchair users.

Shaper/Caper will provide the set.

Staffing • It is essential to pre-rig for this performance prior to the get in. If this cannot be achieved please contact Shaper/Caper as soon as possible to discuss.

• The Technical Manger/Technician can operate lights and sound if they are positioned together. See notes below for positions.

• The performance requires 2 people on stage during the show to help manually switch on and off the projectors, unless the venue projectors have a shutter for the front of the projectors that can be controlled from the control desk.

Setting The venue will provide: • A sprung or semi sprung wooden floor. The stage surface must be smooth, level and clean.

• Full blackout and 4 sets of black legs.

• Two AV projectors, focused onto two toured white screens.

Shaper/Caper will provide white screens and run films from a laptop via QLab. VGA cables to control point required. These should be positioned on a table/trolley upstage centre and downstage centre behind two screens that Shaper/Caper will provide.

• A hazer machine. This is required to be positioned Up Stage Right in wing. Please ensure you have sufficient fluid for both rehearsal and performance. It is essential the venue fire alarm system can be adequately isolated onstage, auditorium and surrounding areas, to allow for the amount of haze that is required for ‘The Adventures of Isabel’.

Sound The venue will provide: • Playback run from a laptop via QLab (We will provide a laptop).

• Onstage foldback. The audience sit on stage and not in the auditorium therefore sound equipment should be positioned towards the stage only.

The sound mixing position should be located at the side of the stage (stage left) with a good view in order for technician to see and hear the performance correctly. It is absolutely not acceptable for the mixing position to be in a booth. Please reserve a space at the side of the stage for the mixing position.

Lighting The venue will provide: • All circuits and lanterns as noted on the attached lighting plan.

• All colour. Shaper/Caper do not tour colour.

It will be necessary for the lighting control position to be on the side of stage left alongside sound mixing position. Please reserve a space in for the lighting control position.

Lighting can be simplified if necessary, see focus notes or contact Shaper/Caper.

Please note: It is vital that there is a lot of haze on stage for two of the sections. Please let us know if the air handling or conditioning in your venue will prevent a thick haze effect. The production will not be performed without haze.

Other requirements The venue will: • Provide a comms system between stage, sound mixer position and lighting control.

• Provide 2 secure and clean dressing rooms with toilets, showers and wash basin facilities. These should be for our exclusive use.

These should have working 13 amp sockets, a steam iron and ironing board.

• Provide 12 x 500ml bottles of still water.

• Provide 2 clean towels for the performers and ice packs.

• Ensure temperature is maintained at 20-25ºC on stage and in dressing rooms.

• Provide a company office accessible at all times throughout our stay. This can be a dressing room providing it is warm and has working 13 amp sockets, Wi-Fi access and mobile phone signal.

• Provide free access to Wi-Fi for all company personnel.

• Provide 1 parking space for a transit van and 1 parking space for a car.

FOH Information • The performance starts just outside the auditorium where the main character ‘Isabel’ meets the audiences and gives them a short monologue. The audience will not be admitted into the auditorium before this monologue.

• Shaper/Caper will provide the venue with a PDF file of our Programme which is in the form of a colouring-in sheet for the sheet to play with after the show. The venue will print this out in black and white and distribute to audiences at the end of the performance at no cost to Shaper/Caper. This must not be distributed at the start as it will be distracting to the young audiences and a health & safety risk to the dancers and audiences.

• The show is recommended for audiences 3 to 10 years and their carers but has been enjoyed by older children too.

• Due to the audience watching the performance from within the set, audience members should remove outdoor footwear and leave coats in the auditorium. As we do not use the venues seating area in the auditorium, it may be useful to use the seating area (or the area directly in front of the seating) to store shoes and coats and to provide an usher to oversee this.

To conclude, in addition to the stage, lantern and sound requirements required above, the venue will also provide as a minimum: • Two AV projectors and VGA cable to control points • A hazer machine and fluid These pieces of equipment will be provided by the venue at no charge.
