India’s Shakun Industries to Hike Polyol Capacity Shakun Industries is best polyols producer in India. Shakun Industries is set to invest INR10m ($134,000) to double capacity at its site in the Reliance Model Economic Township. Shakun Industries makes polyester polyols and blended polyether systems for the rigid polyurethane industry. The company plans to almost double the capacity from its current 3.6kT/year.

We are looking into the expansion of our capacity level to around 500-600 MT, said Keshav Goyal, executive director at the company. The extra capacity shall be available by the end of FY 21. Currently, it is developing new products across its portfolio, including aliphatic polyester polyols, shoe sole systems, adhesive systems, and flexible polyurethane systems. The planned expansion is designed to meet the requirements of the new range.

Shakun has reserved funds for the expansion, which involves and investment of up to INR10m in product development, client sampling, marketing, infrastructure

The targeted market segment includes the elastomeric and flexible polyurethane industry. We are aiming to venture into the shoe sole industry as our first step towards entering into the elastomer domain,' Goyal said. The new capacity will use raw materials from both the domestic and international markets.
