Todah Rabah

Dr. Michael Wasser

Looking back from the start of 5783, there are many positive things to report. Our High Holy Days Services were very well attended, both in person and online. The services themselves were inspiring, led by Rabbi Bright, Cantor Boaz Davidoff and Chazzan Sheini Ariel Krispine. Our Shabbat services are also doing well, benefitting from new members. As for the daily minyans, while they have been improving, they still have a ways to go to recover to their pre-pandemic state. However, we are currently sharing daily minyans with Shaare Zion BethEl since late December. This is going well with consistent minyans every morning and evening. Our recent change to a greater inclusion of women in the services is also proceeding nicely, with women participating not only in the Shabbat services but also in the daily minyans. Cantor Boaz joined us from Tu B’Shevat to Purim. When Boaz is here, we all profit, not just from his musical abilities, but from his enthusiasm and his uplifting spirituality.

Wishing you a wonderful Passover.

I would like to thank the Generation-to-Generation committee and Shaare Zedek members who supported the 2022-2023 Yizkor Booklet. With the added funds, we were able to produce a larger edition, and mail one out to all members.

The booklet was used for Yizkor at Yom Kippur and Shemini Atzeret services in the Shul and on Livestream. The next time the booklet will be used is the last day of Passover, April 13, 2023. We welcome you to join us in Shul, or watch our Livestream, for Yizkor and all our regular services.

Our volunteers make calls daily to all our members to remind them of their Yahrzeit observances and to explain the importance of memorializing our dearly departed, attending services and lighting a candle on the appropriate day.

We are looking forward to all our important Yom HaShoah programmes and having your support in attendance for them.

If you have some time on your hands and want to volunteer to help the Generation-to-Generation committee, please feel free to contact me by email at lenm@havimgroup.com
