B’nai Mitzvah Program

It is with great pride and pleasure that we restarted the B’nai Mitzvah Program at Shaare Zedek. A dedicated committee worked hard to create a dynamic program that is fun, educational, and inspirational for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah child as well as their entire families. This group includes all of the B’nai Mitzvah families celebrating in 2022-2023. This life cycle event is unique to our Jewish religion and culture, and we want this experience to be one that the families will always remember and cherish. Through a number of diverse experiences and projects, the kids will learn the importance of being part of a Jewish community, understand synagogue rituals and traditions, and reflect on what it means to be Jewish.

We will be meeting monthly at Shaare Zedek and off-site for a diverse schedule of events including a Movie Night, a visit to the Holocaust Museum, a speaker from Auberge Shalom (women’s shelter), a basketball game at the YM-YWHA and a visit to Paperman & Sons Funeral Home. Every child will do a Mitzvah (good deed) Project. They will need to find something they are interested in, are good at, or some way to help others. They will present to everyone at an Oneg Shabbat and Family Dinner with parents, siblings, grandparents in May 2023.
