Founded in 1614, SGS is a State Boarding and Church of England School located in beautiful West Sussex, just 30 minutes from Brighton, with excellent transport links to London and international airports.
Students who participate in immersion programmes at Steyning Grammar School not only acquire advanced language skills, promote their personal growth and build self-confidence but immerse themselves in British culture through a British School experience.
The Steyning Grammar School immersion programme is open to students aged from 11 years to 16 years.
You will benefit from attending the day school where you will be able to practice your English language skills everyday.
Accommodated in our modern state boarding facility where you will experience a homely environment where lifelong friendships are made.
PARENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME
Boarders make significant, sometimes exceptional, progress across education, social and psychological areas of their development. Boarders told the inspectors that the experience is ‘character building’ and that it helps them to mature, gain independence and assume personal responsibility.

Bennett House can sleep 35 in mostly single and twin rooms with a number of interconnected triple and four bed rooms. There is a large social room and common room area with small kitchen. This boarding house has recently been decorated with new furnishings throughout.
Wykeham House is a period style property sleeping 18 in a mixture of twin, triple and four bedded rooms. It too benefits from a common room area with kitchen and has also been recently redecorated.
Dormer House, although a period property, is modern inside with two spacious twin en suite rooms and two four bedded rooms.
The boarding houses have outside hard playing courts used for basketball. The houses benefit from being a short stroll from the historic Steyning high street and are located in the surrounds of the idyllic South Downs, accessible from the high street.
YOUR STAY
During your stay at the school you will be assigned a buddy; a Steyning Grammar School student of the same age as you. You will have the same timetable as your buddy and will go to all the same classes as them.
You will also be allocated one of the students in the Boarding house to look after you and help you settle in.
