GBSA at Taiwan Pride.
by Ed Walsh SGN Contributing Writer The Greater Seattle Business Association joined thousands who packed downtown Taipei last month for Taiwan’s 15th annual Pride march, This year there was an extra cause for celebration. The country is on the verge of being the first in Asia to legalize gay marriage. In May, Taiwan’s highest court ruled legislators have up to two years to change the law to allow for same-sex nuptials. A delegation of ten from GSBA joined the march as part of a cultural outreach visit to Taiwan. The LGBT business organiza-
tion’s Public Policy & Communications Manager, Matt Landers, noted the historic nature of the group’s visit. “A cultural mission dedicated to the LGBT community had never been done before,” Landers wrote in an e-mail to SGN. He added that the group visit including meeting with government and community representatives from Seattle’s sister city, Kaohsiung, as well as Tacoma’s sister city, Taichung. The group’s visit was highlighted by marching in the Pride parade on Saturday, October 28. “The Pride march itself was
