by Paul Torres SGN A&E Writer THE WHO & THE WHAT ARTSWEST Through October 1 The Who & the What is an engaging play with fine acting and some humorous and touching moments. However, if the point of ArtsWest ‘s The Who & the What,

its first production of the 2017-2018 season, is to stir up provocative ideas and then connect us with profound revelations, then this production comes up just a bit short. Artistic Director Mathew Wright notes that the theme to this season’s six production, titled “I Am,” concerns identity and the journey we take to discover this. It’s a noble task and ArtsWest does have the talent to meet this task.

Keeping Faith

Something Rotten! is far from foul

by Eric Andrews-Katz SGN A&E Writer SOMETHING ROTTEN! 5TH AVENUE THEATRE Through October 1 Something Rotten! is the current hit musical playing at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre. The show, originally to have had its world debut in Seattle, was bypassed

directly from workshops to Broadway, and the work was not in haste. A simultaneous homage to the works of Shakespeare and musical theatre, it is easy to see why the musical was nominated for the Tony for Best Musical. The story takes place during the English Renaissance and at the height of William Shakespeare’s career. Shakespeare is hailed as a rock star to the wondrous praise
