The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a curious incident

songs my parents loved, cranking up the volume in our Bronco’s 8-track player or radio whenever they came on. That was a lot of songs – all of them seemed to be either anthems or dramatically passionate ballads that even at the tender age of 7, I knew only a heartless bastard could ignore. I got a look at Neil in the 1980 film The Jazz Singer and in some televised performances of the era. I

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME PARAMOUNT THEATRE Through July 30 The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is the Tony winning play that is causing many discussions wherever it goes. Based on the best selling novella, the play’s subject is being talked about as much as the innovative staging of the show itself. Currently playing at Seattle’s Paramount The-

atre, the play is bound to leave any audience member seeing it to become lost in thought for a while afterwards. The story centers around Christopher Boone, a “15 years, three quarters and two weeks” old English boy who has a particular type of either Asperger or highfunctioning autism (it never is defined in the play). Christopher describes himself as a “mathematician with some difficulties.” When the play opens, Christopher has discovered the next-door-neighbor’s dead dog on the lawn killed by a “garden

by Paul Torres SGN A&E Writer CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY July 21-23 The streets of South Central Capitol Hill echoed with the sounds of Diplo, Perfume Genius (who is always excellent), Lizzo, and Naked Giants among others last weekend at Seattle’s 21st annual Capitol Hill Block Party under a dizzying heat with temps in the 80s. This year musical artists played in six venues: Main Stage crowning Pike and Broadway, the Vera Stage on 11th, the Neumos Stage, and at the venues of Barboza, Cha Cha, and The Runaway.

From its most humble beginnings as a simple street party to its more modern incarnation as a major musical festival, the focus has always been music and the artists who create it. Here is my Letterman-esque Top 10 list of the Friday and Saturday performances I attended. 10. Lizzo – Saturday/Main Stage Brassy, sultry and downright funky Lizzo. It was the heat of the day and Lizzo shook the street with her electric R&B vibrations. Her booming voice could be heard down Pike Street rightfully branding the CHBP as unadulterated adult fun.
