current production of The Nance is a dazzling display that takes the audience on a jazzy and comical jaunt. When young and downtrodden Ned, a vibrant Drew Highlands (who was a standout as Biff in ArtsWest’s Death of a Salesman last year), arrives in New York City, within a day he is picked up at a Greenwich Village automat (cafés with coin oper-

on almost all of the major duties of keeping the place up and running in the wake of his father Martin’s (Ian Hart) debilitating stroke, barely on speaking terms with his tersely direct grandmother Deidre (Gemma Jones), the young man spends much of his time in a alcohol-fueled haze, numbing any additional pain with cheap, dirty sex when the opportunity arises.
